Basil Kirchin - Worlds Within Worlds Vol 1&2 LP -V Rare
Free/Avant Classic - Evan Parker, Derek Bailey
I love the fact that this record says "File under Popular: Miscellaneous" - what were Columbia thinking?It's a magnificent record, Evan Parker in particular is incredible. I've never really heard anything like it before and can only hope (Jonny Trunk are you reading this?) somebody reissues it - I want a copy - but also feel it deserves a wider audience.
Anyway, the vinyl is in EX- condition solely because there's a little detritus my Moth record cleaning machine wasn't man enough to shift. The vinyl is unmarked and mostly plays EX+ but there are a few "louder than I'd like 'em" crackles on side two. I've tried to show this in my last picture.
The sleeve is, well, VG, VG+? You can see how it is. There are no seam splits and the spine text is fine, it's just a bit grubby on the back and feathered at the corners. It is 40 years old.
What a record though. Best thing I've heard all year, hands down. Why did nobody buy it in 1971?
I'm selling the other Worlds Within Worlds LP today.
Like many of the records I'm selling today this came from the large collection of a busy man now aged 62. Due to the size of his collection many of the LPs were only played once or twice from new - some were never played and they were all properly looked after. His musical taste was towards the avant garde/free end of the jazz spectrum as well as being a fan of prog, psych and experimental music. I will be selling selected records from his collection over the next few years so please add me to your favourites list!
