Description
Coloured Balls- Ball Power. Super rare 1973 first issue of this classic LP, lead by the legendary Lobby Loyde of the bands The Purple Hearts and The Wild Cherries.
Needless to say, if you're looking at this LP you already know rare this LP is and how influential Lobby Loyde was to the Australian music scene in the 60's and 70's, but in case you don't here's a quick history. Lobby Loydes earlier bands were influential in introducing their own style of 60's garage rock/punk to Australia, and his stint in The Aztecs heavily influenced Billy Thorpe to continue on a heavier prog rock track, but this LP is considered his finest. While not the first time distortion had featured in lead and rythym guitar work, the thickly-overdriven sound that was made famous by AC/DC started right here.
Tracks like "Won't you make up your mind" "Hey! What's your name?" and "Whole Lotta Shakin" feature what sounds like Malcolm Youngs guitar, but of course, this was released the year he started playing gigs with AC/DC!
Not limited to just the heavy / hard rock sound, "Human Being" and the near-11 minute workout of "That's What Mama Said" feature some insane guitar experimentation as the band jam over Lobby's screaming playing. Fantastic doesn't even come close to describing it!
This LP had a massive influence in Australia on the later 70's guitar bands, most notably AC/DC, The Angels and Rose Tattoo. Heavily under appreciated at the time, you can now sink your teeth into this copy!
Graded VG/VG. Light wear overall but nothing major. Sleeve has some light marking and wear, Record looks and plays nicely with only light wear. Mostly only light noise throughout. Not mint but not trashed either! Labels have only light wear
