Description
THE BUTTERFIELD BLUES BAND. ELEKTRA GUITAR PLAYER LABEL. GRADES EX+. 1965 US 1ST PRESSING. MONO. EKL-294. 1ST PRESS A3/B3 MATRIX (SEE TEXT BELOW). INCLUDES ORIGINAL ELEKTRA FOLK MUSIC INSERT.
My listening equipment is a highly revealing Roksan Xerxes/Artemiz/Shiraz turntable, pre/power amplification and Castle speakers.
Played on my system, this LP grades Excellent+. Side one has just a touch of very minor background noise to occasional quiet parts and probably merits a Near Mint grading. Side two has 6 soft clicks during the very first few seconds of track one and are not intrusive. The rest of the side plays to an exceptionally high standard for an overall grading of Excellent+. The vinyl has some hairlines and paper marks which are of no audio consequence. For an American issue, the front-laminated single slip cover is in spectacularly good condition with just a little wear to the corners and, uniquely, no ring wear or rubbing to the surfaces. The back cover has a small red date stamp just above the group photo. This stamp authenticates this as a genuine 1st press - it reads: 102065 (October 20 1965) the album was first released in October 1965 - so the A3/B3 matrix denotes a first pressing. Both cover and record label have the Elektra Guitar Player logo (earlier than the red Elektra label). Comes with its original A5 folded Elektra flyer advertising the label's Folk Music artists.
The ultimate example of this ground-breaking album.
