Budgie : Nightflight A1/B1 1st Press
This first pressing plays to a fantastic standard with a clarity and power that cannot be faulted. S1 is 'as new' and S2 is not far off this standard with only a small number of non-intrusive light ticks. In my opinion this has hardly been played judging by the sonic quality and the fact there is no spindle wear on the labels. A stunning example.
The cover is near perfect and has been incredibly well preserved over the last 40 years. The original inner is also in excellent condition.

Visual grading
The vinyl is visually stunning and still has an immaculate jet-black glossy sheen with no marks or scratches. There are no marks or scratches and I can only detect a small number of very faint sleeve removal hairlines, they are not easy to find! The run out grooves are super clean and the RCA labels are in perfect condition with no marking or spindle wear.
Play grading
The acoustic intro on 'I Turned To Stone' plays beautifully with no intrusion and Shelley's opening vocal is just as 'clean'. It continues in the same way with stunning clarity and power. The first part of Thomas's final section is close to perfect with only 3/4 very minor static ticks and the remainder of the solo is superb to say the least! A Mint- start to the album.
'Keeping A Rendezvous' plays with genuine quality from the get go and having played the track in its entirety (as per usual) I can confidently say there is no interference of any kind. In saying that there are a couple of light static ticks on the fade out so will grade as Mint- accordingly.
'Reaper Of The Glory' more than keeps up the standard and plays with tremendous power from start to finish with no intrusion. This is Mint in every sense of the word.
'She Used Me Up' again impresses on every level and for once there is no distortion. A Mint track to end the side.

The percussive intro on 'Don't Lay Down And Die' has only minimal static for the first 3/4 seconds and from then on plays with very impressive audio. I did hear a couple of non-intrusive ticks and a light click (due to one tiny speck) but the vast majority plays with stunning quality. I think Near Mint is a fair grade.
'Apparatus' plays very clearly with only very minimal static on the intro. The first vocal is nigh on perfect and it continues to play with wonderful clarity and depth. With only a couple more minor ticks this again grades as Near Mint
'Superstar' is 'as new' from the first note to the last with no interference. The clarity and power is flawless and Mint is an easy grade to give.
The intro on 'Change Your Ways' is so 'clean' with only a couple of barely audible static ticks and it continues to play with sublime quality the further you get into the track. Again it's the clarity of sound that really stands out and there is just no intrusion on the audio. The fade out has a couple of mega light ticks and Mint- is well deserved here.
The quiet 'wind' intro on 'Untitled Lullaby' is close to perfect with only a couple of minor ticks and the middle section then plays with faultless precision. The final 'wind' section just has a minimal amount of light static so I will grade this instrumental as Near Mint
In summary this first pressing plays to superb standard with no obvious interference. In truth there are only a handful of non-intrusive light ticks on S2 and S1 in particular is absolutely stunning. The clarity, power and definition of the audio is so impressive and this record has clearly hardly ever been played and the superb audio quality and total lack of spindle wear more or less confirms that.
The Cover & Inner Sleeve
The cover is in superb condition with barely any shelf wear. The edges are in perfect condition and the spine is close to that with only a small number of minor 'pinches'. The corners are in great order and there is no handling wear on the opening edge either. The front and back cover are unmarked and overall this is a stunning example.
The original plain white die-cut inner has no side splits or tears and has only minimal marking around the ringwear 'line' on the lower half. There is no creasing.
