Description
A very rare late 78 rpm record from Buddy Holly. Released in June 1959. The last 78 records were produced in 1959. Written by Sonny Curtis, known for his collaborations with Buddy Holly, he was a member of the Crickets and continued with the band after Holly's death.
Don't wait too long, you may regret it. There are none listed for sale on discogs or eBay worldwide, and no recent sales.
In very good condition. There is a tiny chip on either side, but this is just outside the lead-in grooves. I have added a close up photo of both. Not really an issue, but if I didn't mention it someone may be upset.
I have play tested and I included a video with sound.
The track was lifted from Buddy's final album, "That'll Be The Day", his second and final studio album. Decca, Holly's first major record label, after failing to produce a hit single from Holly's early recordings, packaged these 1956 tunes after he had some success with recordings from the Brunswick and Coral labels, especially the previously released single "That'll Be the Day". This is the last album released before his death in a plane crash on February 3, 1959, and is rare among collectors.
'Ollie Vee' is not listed as one of the single releases from that album, and must have been released separately after he died.
