"WAWA" is a project celebrating the 80th anniversary of the Warsaw Uprising. This year, the Warsaw Uprising Museum invited a unique figure of the Polish music scene - Brodka - to cooperate. Singer, songwriter, composer, director, Fryderyk laureate. The artist took on the role of curator and art director.

This is a project about Warsaw - a city that is extremely important to me. I present history from the perspective of an individual in a large agglomeration, but I am also interested in the energy circulating between the artists who inspired it. I associate Warsaw with living tissue, vibrant with life, jazz. I thought the record would be largely instrumental-jazz. Because jazz is movement, constant change.

Working on "WAWA" gave me the opportunity to talk about the Uprising in an unobvious way, from the humanistic side. We bring emotions of uproar, romanticism, atrocities of war, uncertainty, melancholy, grief to music and accompanying sounds. Therefore, on this record I talk about this event by analyzing different emotions. Through sounds, I talk about our humanity, which we've been through. - says Brodka.

"WAWA" contains 10 tracks - new, original compositions and covers, i.e. interpretations of songs that tell the story of Warsaw in a unique way for the artist. Among the guests invited by Brodka to a common homage to the city were: Marcin Masecki, Sam Gendel, EABS, Hades, 2K88, Mud, WaluśKraksaKryzys, The Brutals and the Moon.

When working on a record - dialogue is paramount to me. Just facing different guest sensitivities or thinking differently about this city is very important to me and that is what I will remember from this job. Through contrast in the selection of artists, I tell an emotional story the way I perceive Warsaw - with all its dirt, architectural mish-mash and lack of obvious beauty. - adds Brodka.

"WAWA" Brodki is another project of the Warsaw Uprising Museum, which has released such outstanding albums as Lao Che's "Warsaw Uprising", Smolik's "Histories" in collaboration with Natalia Grosiak and Miuosh or "Place '44" performed by Voo Voo and their guests.
