This auction is for a copy of
Boston's
12" LP album - US release
"Walk On"
MCA Records MCA-10973, Stereo, 1994.
Still sealed fourth gatefold LP, "Walk On", from Boston, Mass. hard rock band, Boston, with "hype" sticker on front cover shrink wrap. Perfectionist and Boston band leader, Tom Scholz, spent seven years making the album in order to meet his exacting standards.
This album is quite rare and HTF especially sealed and on vinyl, since of course in the '90's CD's were the primary media for releasing music. While some artists (usually those who had gained their popularity during vinyl's heyday) continued to release their albums concurrently on vinyl as well as CD, the number pressed was usually limited, since at that time vinyl was considered to be an "outdated" medium.
We continue this week with listing a large group of vinyl including 45's, 10" & 12" singles, EP's & LP's; Still Sealed, Promos, Imports, lots of HTF items - many from our recent purchase of inventory from the estate of a former music store owner. Jacket = NM.
Still sealed...new, with "hype" sticker on front shrink wrap. Gatefold cover. Bumped with wear on corners, as all four corners have broken through the shrink, and top right corner has a slight bend. There is an approx. 3" long x 1/2" wide tear in the shrink right front near top edge (torn piece is still attached on one edge), and approx. a 1" x 1 1/2" piece of shrink missing from top back right corner. Some edge wear near corners, particularly on bottom seam. Light ringwear/rubbing on shrink, back cover only.

Grading:
We use Goldmine Record grading standards. Records and jackets/sleeves are visually graded under high intensity light, and all details noted are included in the item description. We strive to include complete, acurate condition and description information to the best of our ability.
Some records, especially rare ones or those with damage such as "feelies" (scratches deep enough to be felt with a fingernail), also will be listened to and receive a separate play grade. This assures that the vinyl neither "skips" (misses playing some of the grooves), "sticks" (plays the same groove over and over), or has excessive background noise. Any "tics" (clicking or popping sounds made when the record player needle moves over a scuff or scratch) or other surface noise, will be noted in the description.
We generally do not sell any record that grades lower than VG-, unless it is exceptionally rare, or play grades higher than the visual grade. Goldmine states (and we concur) that: "... older LPs (1950 to about 1971) tend to play better than they look, and newer LPs (at least until 1989) tend to play worse than they look." In particular, we have found that older heavy weight "mono" vinyl usually can withstand considerable play and handling abuse with little or no compromise in fidelity or playability.
