·       WHAT MAKES THIS ALBUM SO UNIQUELY RARE IS THAT THIS IS THE FIRST (AND THE LAST UNTIL 1971) BOOKER T. & THE MG'S ALBUM TO INCLUDE ONLY GROUP'S ORIGINALS AND VIRTUALLY NO COVERS; THE ALBUM COMBINES RARE SINGLES (BOTH A- AND B- SIDES) RELEASED ON STAX LABEL BETWEEN 1963 AND 1965 WITH A HANDFUL OF TRACKS SPECIFICALLY RECORDED FOR THIS ALBUM (AS A RESULT OF THE LENGTHY RECORDING HISTORY, THIS IS THE ONLY BOOKER T. & THE MG'S ALBUM  TO FEATURE TWO DIFFERENT BASSISTS:  LEWIS STEINBERG, THE GROUP'S FIRST BASS PLAYER, AND HIS LEGENDARY SUCCESSOR, DONALD 'DUCK' DUNN); BECAUSE THE GROUP'S ORIGINALS INEXPLICABLY FAILED TO SET BILLBOARD CHARTS ON FIRE (WHICH IS A CRYING SHAME, THEY ARE MUCH BETTER THAN ANY OF THE GROUP'S MANY COVERS), THE ALBUM SOLD MISERABLY, PROBABLY LESS THAN 10,000 COPIES TOTAL AND WAS PROMPTLY DELETED FROM THE STAX CATALOGUE, NEVER TO BE REISSUED ON VINYL IN ANY WAY, MANNER OR FORM UNTIL NEARLY 40 YEARS LATER, WHEN SUNDAZED DIGITALLY REMASTERED THE ENTIRE BTMG'S  RECORDED OUTPUT UP TO 1968). Much copied, even more coveted, and oversampled to death (but never really duplicated or bested ), this is truly a MOTHER of all 60's instrumental R&B/Soul albums. We can't even begin to describe this album accurately without using superlatives. We have spent countless YEARS searching for the perfect mono copy (stereo copies do not exist - all the so-called "stereo" copies are hideously rechannelled, electronic stereos which sound awful), and yes, folks, THIS IS IT. Unless you are willing to search for the still sealed copy for three decades, you will grab this gorgeous piece before someone else does. This may be the last one you will ever see.

(b)          The record is pressed on a beautiful, thick, inflexible vinyl, which was usually used for the first or very early pressings. Usually, the sound on such thick vinyl pressings is full-bodied, vivid, and even dramatic. Do not expect to obtain such a majestic analog sound from a digital recording!

(c)           Mono pressing of this title is much rarer, and by far more  preferable to its FAKE ("electronically rechannelled") stereo counterpart. We estimate that FAKE stereo copies of this album outnumber monos by a ratio of at least 10:1.

(d)          True Stereo copies of this album are NOT known to exist.

(e)           Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!
