"Originally projected as a 2LP + Book set in 1978, this is the first time ever this great work is released as it was conceived, since the mega rare french release from the mid-70's which only included one of the LPs and which was missing the great book with the beautiful engravings by Juan Arkotxa. The reissue of the legendary Book Of Am, a unique combination of recordings and artwork which stands up as an enduring testament of the fertile hippie scene which flourished in the Baleric islands during the seventies. Known to record collectors and psych/folk/prog music aficionados alike, this multi cultural band formed in the island of Mallorca in the mid 70's recorded a beautiful (and outrageously scarce) album which has gained cult status as years passed by.

Originally devised as a beautifully illustrated book focused on various world folklore and traditions, coupled with 4 LP's which would represent a musical. This 4LP set would correspond to the four phases of day (Dawn, Morning, Afternoon, Night). Only the first of this records (Dawn/Morning) would eventually see the light of day in a tiny private pressing which changes hands nowadays for obscene amounts of money. So now, alongside the reissue of the original Book Of Am album here we have the first-ever release of the previously unissued Part I of the Book Of Am, which leader Juan Arkotxa re-mastered recently from the original master tapes.

Both albums will come in a lavish gatefold cover which features a 112-page book reproducing the original engravings by Juan Arkotxa, 64 of which are full color. Never released back in the day due to it's high production costs, now, the central part of the Book Of Am, can finally see the light of day. A round-the-world trip through the folklore, legends, lore and cosmologies of some of the world's oldest cultures, from ancient Egypt to Celtic traditions..."

"CAN AM DES PUIG were a short-lived hippy collective made up of English, French and Spanish acquaintances who came together in the winter of 1978 at the mountain village of Deía on the Spanish island of Majorca to produce this concept album based on an elaborately illustrated book depicting the various stages of mind one passes through in the context of a day. The book is central to the music, and both the original release and 2006 reissue were accompanied by expensive and intricate copies of the text and illustrations.

The music of Book of AM was recorded on a TEAC 4-track loaned to the group by SOFT MACHINE and GONG leader Daevid Allen, who also helped the band to mix, master and privately release the first of the two discs in 1978. Due largely to funding issues and changing priorities, the remainder of the music lay dormant until 2005 when book co-author and band leader Juan Arkotxa oversaw the completion of the entire offering and its subsequent reissue on Wah-Wah Records. The original LP is a virtually impossible find today, and the re-release was issued in a limited quantity of only 500 vinyl and CD copies.

The group's music moves between mildly psychedelic and pastoral, with heavy influences of Eastern folk and mystical sounds. The hand of Allen can be heard on some of the more Western tracks, particularly on the first disc.

CAN AM DES PUIG are an almost mythical piece of progressive folk history whose music is difficult to locate today, even in its reissued CD form. They left behind no known videos, live appearances or other unreleased music; and their single offering remains an elusive but worthwhile experience today..."
