BOBBY DAY AND THE SATELLITES
Little Bitty Pretty One / When the swallows come back to capistrano
- this really is a super rare Rock 'n' Roll / Doo Wop item and seldom seen in any condition -
both the vinyl / labels when graded visibly are a good glossy EX with only tiny scuffs to the laquer that dissapear on rotation under strong natural light.... BUT the sound on 'Little Bittle Pretty One' seems to have some short and very mild patches distortion on parts of the harmony here and there... this is quite hard to detect and I am not altogether all that sure that this didn't happen during the recording process itself, as I have never seen or heard another copy of this 45 on this rare purple and silver HMV issue in order to make an accurate and valid comparison.
However, the record is still very enjoyable and the distortion on the A-side is not terribly bad or overbearing, rather just very mild, occasional and patchy, and always at the same loudest points in the harmony throughout the recording. This is is why i consider that it may be in the actual recording itself on this issue, as to my mind if the distortion was caused through wear, then I would consider it to be continuous and not patchy. Close inspection of the grooves does not offer any clues to heavy wear on the A-side either. The B-side of this platter has no distortion.
I am listing a lot of other rare and unusual stuff at the moment - so please feel free to have a browse and see if anything takes your fancy...
