Warps: Assume all records I offer have no warping of any significance and all tracking is easy and effortless and should play on all turntables and even ‘budget’ decks.

Weight of this Record: 117 grams. Below average for its era but no so much for a US record.

Rarity: These American 360 degree sound copies are seldom seen outside the US. As this album was available worldwide as a standard stereo pressing, imported copied were deemed unneccessary. These pressings are highly prized by audiophile connoisseurs and offer the most stunning sound available, this one more than delivers, it’s simply fantastic.

Original Year of Release: 1963

Matrix Nos: XSM-58719-3AB / XSM-58720-2AE

Brief Info: The world’s most famous folk-poet’s second album originally issued way back in 1963. Without doubt one of his greatest and most powerful acoustic albums, now including all original material bar two songs. This prized US 360 stereo sound record has two immaculate playing surfaces and the cover is little short of Mint. Included too is the promotional inner which dates this pressing to 1969-70 era. This example, from the same collection as the equally superb ‘The Times They Are A-Changin’ ’ set I am also offering will prove near impossible to find better, this could almost pass for new and plays with reference quality sound.

Cover Grade and Format: I have rarely been more tempted to grade a cover full Mint. I cannot remember ever seeing a US-made cover looking quite so new and this truly looks almost as made. A single thick card, matt finished cover with the paste-on back. Printed and made in the US and includes the original promotional inner sleeve and stereo 360 sound logo.

Cover Front: Beautiful beyond belief, this has to be seen to be believed, I will keep this as simple as possible, it looks brand new with nothing to fault even worthy of mention. Nothing else to add, it’s gorgeous.

Cover Back: Supreme again and still very white with no traces of grubbiness or handling marks. Both front and back are exceptional and will satisfy even the most stringent Dylan purist, I doubt if any better ones could even exist.

Top & Bottom Edges: Both as made, dead straight without even a hint of wear - simply incredible.

Right Edge(s), and Type: Clean, very sharp with no wear or feathering, exactly as made. Record entered on this edge.

Spine and Text: Stunning, a pristine spine: Solid, straight, uncompressed and square. All text is perfect and unworn – unbelievable? – well true.

Corners: Any corner blemishes are microscopic, the odd tip rub trace (but look hard). I hardly believe US-made covers were ever manufactured this neat from new.

Cover Summary: A truly remarkable item, again one that will stick in the mind forever and one that will prove near impossible to find better, I can only tip my hat to the original owner. This gorgeous item should please all collectors.

The Inner Sleeve: Just a corner crease away from Mint(-). Unlined and fragile, all edges unsplit with no repairs and clean. Albums promoted include Santana’s first, Janis Jopin ‘Kozmic Blues’ and ‘Bridge Over Troubled Water’, so clearly the 1969 era.

Vinyl Condition/Visual Grading: Mint(-) but where is the minus I am asking myself. This is pretty much flawless and looks like new and unused. A supreme visual copy that is super clean, shiny, intense black and quite solidly pressed. A copy barely played all the evidence, if indeed at all. Two incredible playing surfaces, the likes that are rarely seen on any record let alone an imported one. This will remind collectors of what records looked like when purchased new back in their day. Visually a marvellous American record that should please all collectors again, even the most critical and discerning.

Album Played For Grading: Yes. [I play ALL records I offer before submitting to Ebay, also the record is played in its entirety unless clearly stated otherwise. I do NOT play snippets or joining grooves to check for sound quality and quietness – I play from the beginning to end via clinically revealing B&W speakers that include the legendary tweeter from their awesome Nautilus range that reveals every blemish or miniscule sound present on any record.]

Sound Quality and Audio Grading: This totally immaculate record plays up to its high visual grading with nothing to fault at all. A strong, realistic and beautifully produced recording that has totally distortion-free sound, all frequencies are sharp and clear - sound quality is astonishing with a wide dynamic range and very detailed sound. Mr Zimmerman himself could be in the room with you performing, its truly that good. The 360 sound mix is most prized and cherished by those who have an ear for quality, it really does take you into the recording studio itself and is superbly pressed. Any surface sounds barely even registered and no pops or clicks were noted and this is an exceptional clean pressing for a fairly difficult album. Acoustic guitar, harmonica and vocal, no loud passages for blemishes to hide in, but none needed here. Few early copies will even match this quality 360 stereo pressing I feel sure. Both channels are clean and sharp, I feel certain this record has barely been played and obviously well stored and carefully handled, almost certainly in a non-smoking environment. Nothing spoilt my pleasure when play-grading this wonderful record, a landmark recording from a living legend. This copy will prove nigh-on impossible to find better and can be unreservedly recommended. Records this age and quality only come along very occasionally and if this title is wanted, do not lose it. Both the 360 Sound Dylans on offer are of the utmost quality and amazingly preserved.

The record’s cover will be placed within a BRAND NEW soft protective sleeve and the actual record will be professionally cleaned on my Moth Pro vacuum system to give ultimate clean grooves and playing surfaces and the best possible looks and ultimate sound quality. You will NOT get tired, dull looking, dust infested records inside worn and foggy covers with tatty inners from this seller and that’s a promise and guarantee. All records are posted in professional thick boxes (NOT Mailers or Cruciforms, these do not offer maximum protection). The record(s) REMOVED from their main cover to avoid edge splits and placed within a brand new polylined inner. The record’s original inner will be included if available. SOME GENERAL GUIDES TO WEAR AND CONDITIONS TO HELP YOU DECIDE

My Use of Description Terminology: Surface Marks = Superficial, usually light marks, hairlines or light scuffs that rarely sound. Scratch = a needle mark that goes below the record’s surface, some will sound, some will not, my play-grade will inform. Original = a record that has been pressed with the first label design which does NOT neccessarily mean a very first pressed record. First Pressing = A record that I believe or know to be a genuine very first pressed record. I do not claim to always know for sure, and that’s why I state the stamper and matrix numbers if at all possible, for those who claim to know what they all mean, the information is there for the collector to decide. I prefer to use terms like ‘Early Copy’ rather than ‘First Pressing’ if I am not totally sure. Surface Sound = Mild, light sound, usually light crackle or similar. Distortion = Break up of the actual sound caused by groove wear or damage from a chipped stylus – the most undesirable form of unwanted sound, vintage mono records were the most prone to this happening but not exclusively so. The symptoms of distortion are high frequency clipping, moderate constant crackle or an echo type sound quality. Violin, piano and vocals are most prone to groove-wear distortion. Feathering = Fraying or softening of the entry edge of a cover. Covers with feathered entrance edges are more likely to have had the actual record inserted and removed more than a non-feathered, sharp-edged cover which are always far more attractive. Set Off, actually a printer’s term for dark ink leaving mild residue on pale or white ink when rested upon. e.g. when a gatefold cover has black ink closed against white, this can leave some black residue on the pale area – this is mostly unavoidable or course.

The Argument for Vinyl Original sound and mix (mono mixes are rarely available on CD), high quality sound on clean copies (played on a hi-end dedicated analogue system – breathtaking sound!), beautiful, large format covers, artwork, inserts and even full size posters etc; huge investment potential, and the pleasure of owning ‘the real thing’.
