BOB DYLAN BASEMENT TAPES WHITE ALBUM - 1967

This "White Demo" album is a 33rpm disc in a plain white album cover, plain white sleeve and plain white labels. There are no markings of identification of any kind; no matrix number. The only thing in the run out area are the scratched in identification of Side 1 and Side 2. 

This “White Demo” was first recorded in rehearsal sessions at The Band's upstate New York residence, Big Pink, in 1967, with Dylan on lead vocal and The Band backing him.  It was recorded to help sell Dylan songs to other artists and precedes the other basement tape albums including the Great White.  This 10 song demo album was specifically referred to by Garth Hudson, The Bands keyboardist in an interview with Rolling Stone and posted by Stephen Pate on November 11, 2014.

The ten songs included on the disc were all recorded in 1967 and all eventually included in the official release of the Basement Tapes album.  This is one of the very first versions pressed by Dylan and The Band that was intended to be a promo album.  All the songs on this album were eventually included in The Basement Tapes album released in 1975.

The ten songs included on this disc were all recorded in 1967 and are arguably the most famous songs from the basement tapes, and the first to be bootlegged.  All appear on one of the most famous of the early bootlegs, Troubled Troubadour and also appear on Great White Wonder, arguably the world's very first bootleg record album.

The album was given to my wife's late husband when he was a manager at Tower Records. As the photos show, the album cover is split and in poor condition as is the inside slip. The disc isn't bad but has a few scratches.  The recordings themselves seem of poor quality and appear very amateurish, but they didn't have a professional studio when they made the demo.

The album cover and disc show a lot of wear. Notice the lower lefthand corner of the album photo the initials B.D.  Despite the poor condition, this is an important part of the Dylan discology and a must have for any student of Bob Dylan.
