· BOB DYLAN - SELF TITLED 1962 ALBUM (“BOB DYLAN”) – 1962 COLUMBIA RECORDS STEREO LP CS - 8579
· GENUINE, POSSIBLY THE ORIGINAL, FIRST U.S. PRESSING.
*** STILL SEALED GUARANTEED ‘60s PRESSING ***
· BELIEVED TO BE PRESSED EITHER ON (1) RED & BLACK COLUMBIA "360 STEREO" LABEL WHICH WAS IN USE BETWEEN 1962 AND 1965 = OR = RED & WHITE "360 STEREO" COLUMBIA LABEL, WHICH WAS IN USE BETWEEN 1965 AND 1968, BUT IN ANY EVENT DEFINITELY ONE OF THESE TWO LABELS (SEE THE ILLUSTRATION SHOWN BELOW).
· THIS IS NOT AN IMPORT, OR A COUNTERFEIT PRESSING.
· THE THICKNESS OF THE VINYL, THE APPEARANCE AND THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE COVER, LABEL’S LOGO AND OTHER PERIPHERAL ELEMENTS OF THE COVER, ARE ALL PERFECTLY CONSISTENT WITH THE VERY EARLY (1960’S) PRESSING OF THIS TITLE.
· TWO “BREATHE” (AIR) HOLES NOTED ON THE SHRINK WRAP
· PLEASE NOTE: BASED ON THE TYPE OF THE PAPER STOCK USED FOR THE PAPER SLICK ON THIS ALBUM, THE FINE PRINT QUALITY AND RESOLUTION ON THE FRONT COVER, AS WELL AS A SMALL NUMBER ON THE BACK COVER (NOT A HEART-SHAPED SYMBOL USED AFTER 1969), WE CAN STATE WITH GREAT CONFIDENCE AND NEAR-CERTAINTY THAT THIS IS A PRE-1969 PRESSING OF THE ALBUM. IN ADDITION, THE ABSENCE OF PLASTIC COLUMBIA BAGGY INSIDE ESSENTIALY RULES OUT THE POSSIBILITY THAT THIS IS A 1966-1967 PRESSING. THIS LEAVES ONLY TWO OTHER POSSIBILITIES: (A) THAT THIS IS A PRESSING FROM 1962-1965 = OR = THAT THIS IS A 1968 PRESSING. WE FEEL THAT THE VINYL INSIDE IS A LITTLE BIT TOO THICK AND TOO RIGID TO BE A 1968 PRESSING AND ARE INCLINED TO BELIEVE THAT THIS IS A 1962-1965 PRESSING.
· THICK, CARDBOARD COVER, AMERICAN STYLE.
· VERY THICK, HEAVY, RIGID VINYL PRESSING
(►PLEASE SEE THE IMAGE OF THE COVER, LABEL OR BOTH, SHOWN BELOW)
(Note: this is a REAL image of the ACTUAL item you are bidding on. This is NOT a "recycled" image from our previous auction. What you see is what you'll get. GUARANTEED!)

The album is a proverbial piece of history: Bob Dylan needs no introduction: this is the album that announced his arrival to the unsuspecting world, and the work which started the entire Dylan cult, which was merely a few years away. Capably produced by the legendary John Hammond, Sr. (who, among others, discovered such stars as Billie Holiday, Robert Johnson, Aretha Franklin and Bruce Springsteen) , the album shows Bob Dylan's deep and genuine love for all forms of archetypal musical Americana, particularly traditionals, spirituals, folk, blues and work song. Track listing: You're no good -Talkin' New York - In my time of dying - Man of constant sorrow - Fixin' to die - Pretty Peggy-O - Highway 51 - Gospel Plow - Baby, let me follow you down - House of the risin' sun - Freight Train Blues - Song to Woody - See that my grave is kept clean.
We do not know what pressing you will find inside, but we definitely DO know and DO guarantee that this is a 1960’s pressing: one of four Columbia ‘60s labels shown below. Our qualified guess (which may be entirely wrong, of course) is that this is the second pressing, circa 1963/64 on RED AND BLACK Columbia label with “360 Stereo” banner in BLACK letters at the bottom of the label. If, on the other hand, the winner should find the original, 6-eye stereo label inside, we will gladly take the album back for a full refund, no questions asked J J J.

· CONDITION:
· RECORD
(IMPORTANT NOTE: unless otherwise noted, ALL records are graded visually, and NOT play-graded!; we grade records under the strong, diffuse room light or discrete sunlight)
(a) THE ALBUM IS STILL FACTORY SEALED AND IS BELIEVED TO BE PERFECTLY MINT. Please note: sealed items are assumed to be mint and are sold as-is, as we have no way of inspecting them. For our policy on still sealed records ►click here (PLEASE READ BEFORE PLACING A BID)
(b) The record is believed to come in its original stock inner sleeve (we DO know that the record comes in PAPER inner sleeve, not a plastic baggy – we can see the paper sleeve through the opening (mouth) of the album
(c) The record is apparently pressed on a beautiful, thick, inflexible vinyl, which was usually used for the first or very early pressings. Usually, the sound on such thick vinyl pressings is full-bodied, vivid, and even dramatic. Do not expect to obtain such a majestic analog sound from a digital recording!
(d) First two stereo pressings (“Six Eye” and Red & Black label) of this title are much rarer, and by far more preferable to its mono counterpart. The mix is more graphic, the sound resolution more precise, and the channel separation (which does not exist on mono version) adds a whole new dimension to the music. Also, the stereo mixes are (by definition) somewhat different than on the mono version. We estimate that mono copies of this album outnumber stereo copies by a ratio of at least 5:1.
(e) Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!
