This record was purchased at a yard sale near Woodstock, NY in the early 90's, and had been in the collection of that private collector for the last 20+ years, until I purchased it from him a few years ago. It is believed to have once been owned by Albert Grossman, Dylan's manager from the 1960's. Please contact me with any questions you may have!
"Songs By Bob Dylan" From 1963, an 11 song demo record created by Sound Makers Inc., for the purpose of distribution to other labels/artists at the time, to consider his songs for covering. These are all takes featuring Dylan performing solo, and are also referred to as part of his famous Witmark Demos. The recordings were never meant for public consumption, and are all outtakes that differ from the versions that ended up on his Columbia albums, and all were completely unreleased officially until a few years ago when the Witmark Demos CD collection came out. There have only been 3 previous known copies to have been sold! in 1992, 2006, and 2012.
Vinyl LP is housed in a generic Audiodisc sleeve, which has some seam splitting and wear. The vinyl is G+, definitely not trashed looking, but there are many light scratches, and some small lightly feelable clusters of scratches, but there are no deep scratches. Plays with a light crackling throughout; the sound quality is still pretty nice and warm sounding!
