Description

BO DIDDLEY
Checker LP-2980  (M) Bo Diddley Is A Gunslinger  1960
First pressing from 1960 ... this one came from the same collection as our current listing Bo Diddley first self titled LP.

Cover: EX - ... beautiful graphics for a record that is almost 50 years old ( I can't believe I even said  that) .. Has a little color loss around the opening on top edge and has the number  17 carefully taped in the upper left corner. Back cover has some age spotting but no real ringwear

Vinyl: EX/EX+ ... beautiful sheen .. still has very minute degree of some background noise in quiet passages. This is a condition that I have found in many of the Chess, Checker and Blue Note recordings of the same era. This is the cleanest copy of this record that we have seen in ten years.

Forget the silly cowboy costume on the front cover -- because this is a heck of a great album! Bo might have gotten saddled (no pun intended!) with a silly gimmick for the title and image of the set -- but the album's one of his best from the early Chess years, and features a rip-roaring batch of tracks that really cut it up in his classic scratchy guitar mode of the time! Lyrics are great -- nearly all originals by Bo himself, with that hip swinging, and hard-wailing approach that was always a lot of fun -- and cuts include "Gunslinger", "Diddling", "Cheyenne", "Cadillac", and "Doing The Craw-Daddy".
