Ladies and Gentlemen, you are looking at the conception of Rock'n'Roll. This is the spring-source of all that its primal, atavistic, vital, rude, crude and lewd (in the best sense of the word) in all of R&R: Bo Diddley not only single-handedly invented the entire R&B genre, he not only parented what is probably the single most memorable of all R&R riffs, but also acted midwifed at Rock's birth. We proudly present here Bo Diddley's first - and greatest - album. Track listing: Bo Diddley - I'm a man - Bring it to Jerome - Before you accuse me - Hey Bo Diddley - Dearest Darling - Hush your mouth - Say Bossman - Diddley Daddy - Diddey Wah Diddey - Who do you love - Pretty Thing. The list of the bands and artists who covered these immortal songs reads like who-is-who of Rock: Doors, Etta James, Creedence, Captain Beefheart, The Band, Quicksilver Messenger Service, Bob Seger…but the award goes to Pretty Things who named themselves after the same-titled song from this album. This album is a DEFINITION of "classic".

(IMPORTANT NOTE: unless otherwise noted, ALL records are graded visually, and NOT play-graded!; we  grade records under the strong, diffuse room light or discrete sunlight)

(a)          CAUTION! The vinyl is only VERY GOOD (-)- TO VERY GOOD, with multiple, numerous, small scuffs and scratches which are BOTH visible AND audible. The record plays with light and tolerable BUT AUDIBLE surface noise and occasional pops and clicks. The record plays without skipping throughout. This record WAS play-graded

We could not "feel" these abrasions with our fingertip, and we suspect that they are NOT highly audible.

(b)          The record is pressed on a beautiful, thick, inflexible vinyl, which was usually used for the first or very early pressings. Usually, the sound on such thick vinyl pressings is full-bodied, vivid, and even dramatic. Do not expect to obtain such a majestic analog sound from a digital recording!

(c)           True stereo copies of this album are NOT known to exist.

(d)          Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!

·       COVER

THE COVER IS NICE --- ABOUT EXCELLENT OR VERY GOOD++ (VG++).

The following flaws or imperfections are noted on the cover:

-        Cover shows JUST A HINT of yellowing on both sides, apparently from aging.

-        Cover has circular tarnish (grayish, dust-covered sections, which closely follow the contour of the record),  probably caused by friction or by rubbing against other covers during the storage. The tarnish is similar in appearance to a common ring wear, but, UNLIKE ring wear, these grayish areas may be possible to clean up with a minor effort and with a right cleansing solution.

-        Cover has some light ring wear (nothing significant); On the scale from 1 to 10 (1 being the least, and  10 being the most severe), we assess the severity of ring wear as 2 (front side) and 3 (back side)

-        Cover has two (2) small quality control (inspection) stamps on the back panel

-        Cover has one corner slightly worn / frayed / bent (nothing significant)

NO OTHER IMPERFECTIONS ON THE COVER:

-        No split seams

-        No cut-out (drill) holes.

-        No cut-out corners

-        No saw-marks or indents

-        No wrinkles or creases

-        No writing

-        No tearing: no chips, dents or nicks on the seams

-        No peel-off marks

-        No stains

-        No mold or mildew spots

-        No stickers or labels

-        No water damage

-        No razor marks, scratches, pressure marks, lines, streaks, or  cuts.

-        No warping

-        No wax, glue, paint or liquid drops on the cover

-        No bar codes

-        No RIAA stamps or stickers.
