BLUES IMAGE - OPEN - SD 33 - 317 STEREO - RARE WHITE LABEL PROMO LP! INCLUDES THE HIT, 'RIDE CAPTAIN RIDE'.
Blues Image was formed in Tampa, Florida in 1966 by singer-guitarist Mike Pinera, singer-drummer Manuel "Manny" Bertematti, singer-percussionist Joe Lala, keyboardist Emilio Garcia, and bassist Malcolm Jones. They were later joined by keyboardist Frank "Skip" Konte when Emilio Garcia left the band to become a pilot. The band moved to Los Angeles and signed with Atco Records, releasing their self-titled debut album in February 1969. Their second album, Open (April 1970), included the popular hit "Ride Captain Ride". Featuring Kent Henry on guitar solo and fills, and Pinera playing solo at the end, the song was co-composed by Pinera and Konte. This disc sold over one million copies, and earned a gold record from the R.I.A.A. in August 1970. It was Blues Image's only charting hit, making the group a one-hit wonder. Their management, Bedno-Wright Associates, a small outfit, might have had much to do with that... Pinera then went to RHINOCEROUS (another great, nearly forgotten band) for a few LP's before joining THE NEW CACTUS GROUP for one LP before they became toast. There's music History here, folks, most of it forgotten now by all but a few. KEEP GREAT MUSIC ALIVE! (I'll be listing all the Rhino and Cactus LP's in the next few weeks, so keep your eyes out for them!)
ALL MY ITEMS COME FROM MY OWN PERSONAL COLLECTION - THESE AREN'T LP'S THAT HAVE GONE FROM HAND TO HAND, STORE TO STORE, BIN TO BIN - THEY HAVE ALL HAD A SWEET LIFE IN A TEMP CONTROLLED ENVIORNMENT, STORED PROPERLY + RARELY HANDLED BY ANYONE.
There's 2 hairline paper marks on Side 1 - tried to get pics so you can see, but they are just paper scuffs + don't compromise the grooves. Side 2 is pristine, and there's a smokin' version of 'Parchman Farm' on this side as well...
***(I never stored my LP's in the record sleeves; hence no splits. Covers always in plastic sleeves, records always in rice paper + plastic sleeves; sure I'm nuts, but that's EXACTLY what you want when you're looking for rarities such as these.) Think Phil Hartman (RIP) as the anal-retentive chef from SNL when SNL mattered...that's me.
NO SPLITS IN COVER, NO FADING, NO SCRATCHES, NO FUNKY, MOLDY ODORS, HOLE PUNCHES, MOISTURE DAMAGE, PEELING, NOTHING AS FAR AS BLEMISHES... ( I USE GOLDMINE GRADING, AS I WAS A CONTRIBUTER AS WELL AS A SELLER IN GOLDMINE FOR ALMOST 15 YEARS...).
See pics, ask questions - I'm here to assist. Plenty of pics from all sides so you can see what you need to see. Or, ask for more.
(I have over 4,500 records that have been in climate-controlled conditions all through the years, and around 175 to 200 are still sealed, mostly all 60's, mostly psych, pop and Beatles, Crimson or related, so you might want to add me to your favorites, as I'll be listing several hundred over the next few months. I'm a huge collector, and it's time I downsized some of my collections)
ALWAYS OPEN TO REASONABLE OFFERS...REASONABLE BEING KEY. (HINT: 40-50% IS NOT REASONABLE...).
