Description
This is a LOVELY copy of this RARE, very desirable BLUE NOTE album, "PAUL CHAMBERS: BASS ON TOP", featuring KENNY BURRELL, Guitar, HANK JONES, Piano, PAUL CHAMBERS, Bass, and ART TAYLOR, Drums. This is BRILLIANTLY PERFORMED, hard swinging mid 50's BLUE NOTE JAZZ at its best!
This LP was released in the early 50's, and this is an ORIGINAL PRESSING. It features the well known DOUBLE SIDED DEEP GROOVE Blue and White label. It features the 47 W. 63rd, NYC Blue Note address on the labels. NO "INC" NO "R". The run out groove has the "ear" as well as the Rudy Van Gelder stamp. It also has the matrix BN LP 1569 A(and B) hand etched in the run out grooves. The labels are clean, with slight spindle marks. The LP is conservatively rated VG+, with very light marks that do not effect the sound. The LP itself is the thick, heavy vinyl associated with these early 50s pressings. I have played this LP, and it plays beautifully, with just slight occasional back round noise. The sound is beautiful...that classic, gorgeous, rich Blue Note sound, but of course, there might be an occasional pop or click. This is a 60 year old record, and its not absolutely flawless. Its all about the music, and this LP plays great! Ive been advised by a friend who is a very experienced seller to be very conservative on my ratings, as Im an avid collector, but a relatively new "seller". The classic heavy LAMINATED cardboard cover is in VG/VG+condition, with solid spine. The top seam has separated about 4 inches from opening, and the bottom seam has separated about 6 or 7 inches from the opening (easily repairable, but I have left this for the new owner to do as he or she sees fit). The back cover has the previous owners name stamped (very tiny, see pic) also a tiny sticker that says "25"(see pic). The jacket has the 47 W. 63rd St, NEW YORK 23 address. This is obviously an EARLY pressing. The LP cover has moderate shelf wear for an album that is close to 60 years old. The classic cover with its distinctive graphics, and photo by FRANCIS WOLFF, are sharp and clear.
I am a Jazz Pianist and Recording Artist, and have been collecting Rare Jazz LPs for many years. This is one from my personal collection. I assure you, all the LPs I will be offering here have been meticulously taken care of, and only played rarely, on a Sota Sapphire Turntable, with a Grado Reference Cartridge. They have been kept inside a temperature controlled room in my home, in plastic dust jackets. In other words, you can bid in confidence, knowing these LPs come from someone who has loved them and babied them. I reluctantly am beginning to sell some of my LPs, and hope they go to someone who will love them as I have.
All LPs will be carefully packed in strong, proper LP boxes, well protected, and sent USPS PRIORITY MAIL or EXPRESS MAIL so proper tracking is available. Media Rate for domestic shipments is available, but really not recommended. For overseas buyers, ( Europe, Asia, Australia, South America, etc) we recommend PRIORITY MAIL, EXPRESS MAIL, or REGISTERED MAIL for proper tracking. We keep very close watch on all shipments through United States Post Office and Customs. Shipping costs are always based on your location. I do not add "handling"fees, costs will be exactly as I am charged by the shipper of choice. Good Luck to all bidders!
