BLAZE FOLEY self-titled (Vital Records) 1984 ***ORIGINAL PRESSING!***
This is the ***SUPER RARE*** ORIGINAL PRESSING of what has since been reissued as "The Lost Muscle Shoals Recordings"....
This album was the first LP that was released by Blaze, even though he had recorded another record before it.... The earlier record was never released, because Foley insisted on carrying the master tapes around, to show people that he'd actually recorded an album.... But those tapes, along with many of Blaze's other belongings, were stolen when the station wagon he was living in was broken into, and the master tapes never resurfaced. In the early-1980s, Blaze met up with a gentleman named Bill French, who offered to pay for studio time, and release this album on his new Vital Records imprint. Once the records were pressed, Blaze was given 100 copies (out of what was reportedly a pressing of 500), and soon after, French, who had ties to the Mob, and was involved in a major cocaine importing operation, was busted by the feds.... All of his belongings of any value were seized, including the rest of Foley's LPs, the record's master tapes, etc.... French agreed to testify against his drug-running cohorts, and was then placed in the witness protection program. It wasn't until several years later, that a few boxes of the remaining LPs were found in an Alabama warehouse, and returned to Blaze -- He then used those records to barter for drinks, and pass along to musicians whom he wanted to learn his material, so they could play gigs with him. The master tapes, however, were never found, and thus, the "Lost Muscle Shoals Recordings" reissue was actually mastered from one of these original Vital label records, as no better quality source material existed.
So consider that of the original small pressing (apparently only 500), an even smaller number of these survived, and there's a good chance that the record being offered in this listing probably passed directly from the hands of Blaze Foley, to those of a bartender, musician, or friend!
I didn't think I'd ever part with this record, but finances & outstanding bills dictate that I must let it go. Hopefully it will go to someone else who appreciated the legend & lore of Foley & this release!
Condition: STILL SEALED, so obviously never played, and the cover shows no signs of wear (only some faint lighter areas, that are typical of older offset printing), and has sharp corners & seams.
This offer/listing is ONLY AVAILABLE TO U.S. BUYERS.
PLEASE ASK ANY QUESTIONS YOU MAY HAVE BEFORE PURCHASING!!
Once purchased & paid, I will package the record with EXTREME CARE, in very SECURE PACKAGING. It will be sent via USPS, and INSURED for the purchase price.
