Description

Hello my name is Brian and I have been a vinyl fan for many years now and have always bought and sold items to feed my vinyl hunger...I have never been a dealer but will always describe my items for sale as honestly and accurately as possible with plenty of clear and detailed pictures.
If you read my ebay feed back as a seller you will see that people are happy with what they recieve from my auctions. I try not to waffle on about how rare an album is using silly expressions such as "AWESOME" or "IMPOSSIBLE LIKE THIS" etc etc (yawn yawn)!

I am very particular about packaging the vinyl. I use cruciform boxes with cardboard stiffeners and bubble wrap for extra protection. The vinyl is always packaged outside of the sleeve to prevent seem splits. I am happy to post any where in the world if fully insured and the cost will depend on the final selling value, so I can't advise the cost until the auction has ended.

Please bid with confidence, and if for some reason you are not happy with your purchase i am happy to give a FULL refund on receiving the item back in the condition I posted it out in.

I recommend extra insurance for the more valuable items (over £40), it only costs a couple of pounds and is well worth it in my opinion. I will NOT post items over seas without full insurance.

I use the 'RECORD COLLECTOR' grading system with a + or - where appropriate.

so here we go.........

BLACK SABBATH-BLACKSABBATH. UK 1st pressing "A PHILIPS RECORDS PRODUCT"

VO6  847903 VTY STEREO  1970

VERTIGO SWIRL/SPIRAL LABEL

This is the very first pressing any where in the world...

matrix number side A  VO6   1Y  *  1   420   12  1
matrix number side B  VO6   2Y  *  1   420   12  2

SLEEVE......... GATEFOLD AND UNLAMINATED. This is the correct first printing of this sleeve easily identified by the 'warning' text in the bottom part of the cross in the inner gatefold, it states "Copyright subsists in all STEREO recordings." etc, etc. This was an error and should have said VERTIGO instead of STEREO. This error is ONLY on the very first printed sleeves. The front is EX very light signs of handling no ring wear. The rear is in similar EX condition with no ring wear. The spine has a little edge wear and some wear to the top edge and the information is fully readable EX-. The top edges are in very nice EX+ condition with almost no wear. The bottom edges have light shelf wear but are not split VG+. The opening edges are in great condition EX. The inner gatefold is in VG+ this would grade higher but at the bottom inner spine there is an area of moderate creasing. There is wear to the tips of the corners. Over all a well above average example of this highly collectable sleeve. Some 42 years old now and in a solid EX condition.

INSERT.......... Correct swirl company inner sleeve, a little foxing, 1 small 2 cm split to left seem, poly lining still intact. Correct print code on front left '119  45'

LABELS......... Correct 1st press labels with  "a Philips Records Product" printed at the base of the B side label. No damage, no unwanted writing or stickers or tears minimal light spindle marks. EX+

VINYL............ The surfaces look great with almost light hairlines and no deep scratches, nice glossy deep black shine.

PLAYBACK..
I am fortunate to own a LINN SONDEK with an EKOS arm and ARKIV cartridge connected to LINN amps and LINN speakers that together show up the faults as well as the wonderful music that vinyl contains. First and most important the sound quality is 100%. There is absolutely no deteriation in the playback full, rich and loud, wonderful stereo and a big wide sound stage. These early Vertigo pressings really captured it all, GREAT STUFF! There is a little background static/dust crackle in the quieter parts (not many of those on this album) and side B run in grove has a bit of noise which disappears as soon as the music begins. There are NO loud pops or clicks and there are no jumps. EX/EX.

Thank you for looking.
Good luck bidding, Brian.
