Description

Welcome to my auction - please read all text.

I have returned from an absence to offer for sale some more of my collection which I have accumulated over many years. In the near future I shall be offering for sale very rare and highly collectible LP’s from all of the acclaimed companies; Vertigo Swirl; Pink Island; Decca; Blue Horizon; Atlantic Plum etc... to name but a few. Over 90% of the LP’s are from my personal collection and, have been purchased over the years by myself. They have been cared for with the respect vinyl deserves.

I always use a low starting price to attract views for my auctions and my feedback speaks for itself. I am not a shop/store or a record ‘dealer’; I am a music enthusiast who feels the time has come to move these LP’s on for another music enthusiast to care for and enjoy. I bought my LP’s because I like that genre of music; Blues Rock; Psychedelic; Progressive Rock; and Heavy Rock.

I could prattle on about how rare this LP is but I will save you the garb and go straight to the LP and description. Before that however, I do feel obliged to question that somehow the esteemed Record Collector ‘bible’ has the ‘guide-price-tag’ for this very rare mono LP confused with the stereo pressing of the LP? Whilst still very rare, the stereo pressing does occasionally come up for auction; the mono pressing however hardly ever comes up for auction and is probably the Holy Grail for Barbed Wire Sandwich LP collectors.

Many of you who are looking at this auction will already know that BLACK CAT BONES was the first group of legendary British guitarist, Paul Kossoff, before hooking-up with Paul Rodgers et al and forming British Blues-Rock group, FREE.

Vinyl Description: EX+

Whilst I would not report the vinyl is in absolute ‘perfect’ condition I would say it still holds a high excellent+ value. There is the very faintest sound of just a few small ‘ticks’ on the track, 'Chauffeur'. These in my opinion do not detract from the audio quality whatsoever or the enjoyment value and, I state this only for honesty and integrity for the winning bidder of the auction – indeed they are extremely minor and on listening could quite easily be confused with the sound of static on the vinyl.

The rest of the LP is in absolute great condition and sound quality is superb. The quieter tracks are also free from any irritable noise.  Remember that this mono LP is 43yrs old and indeed even the severest vinyl perfectionist would have to think twice before criticizing the sound quality of the vinyl.

No jumps, no sticking, no heavy 'clunks', and none of the ghastly ‘breakfast frying’ sound! And just the merest hint of static sound in only the odd places – the vinyl sound really is that good!

Perhaps I am being too critical for my own good here but, once the winner of this auction actually plays and listens to the LP, they will understand how honest I am in my description – I would say that this very rare and highly collectible LP is easily a ‘keeper’ and, I will be very sorry to part with it. This UK mono pressing very rarely comes up for sale – truly; how many other mono pressings of this LP have you seen for sale?

Cover Sleeve: VG

I describe the sleeve as Very Good. The is no writing or ink on the sleeve. The laminate is creased, mainly in the top right-hand corner. There are a few creases on the sides but even so, it is all still in tact and there is no absolutely no ‘lifting’ of the laminate. The writing on the spine is still readable and discernible with no splits. In fact there are no rips, splits or tears on the cover at all and, the overall appearance would only add credibility to the LP’s authenticity. The rear of the sleeve has that ‘worn’ look but has absolutely no rub-marks and print is highly readable - I would offer this gives the LP its original look and feel. It states on the rear cover the printing was done in England by ‘Senol Printing Company’ and laminated with ‘Clarifoil’. It comes in the original poly-lined red mono Decca Record Company inner sleeve - all very much original.

Labels: EX+

Both the small Decca Nova labels are in superb condition! No ink/writing. No rips, no tears, no creases and still have their lustre. The very faintest of spindle marks but again I am being extremely critical – all in all, easily excellent+!

P&P charges

I need to cover the cost of postage and packing materials, but I try not to charge more for packing and posting your item than it actually costs me. I do not view P&P costs as a means of making money.

However, to quote an exact cost for every LP is difficult because of the wide variance in weight. The majority of single LPs, when packed, will weigh around 500-550 grams and I have based my P&P rates on this.

Occasionally, you may end up paying a few pence more than it actually costs me and occasionally you may end up paying a few pence less than it actually costs me. If there is a significant discrepancy in your favour I will refund the difference.
