BIG BLACK HEADACHE RARE VINYL LP/EP ALBINI CENSORED!!!!
CENSORED!!! RARE, RARE, RARE, RARE!!! Did I mention RARE???
NO RESERVE!!! Seminal 1980s Chicago punk band BIG BLACK, fronted by Steve Albini with Santiago Durango of later Arsenal fame and Dave whose last name I don't remember, put out this LIMITED EDITION of the CENSORED "Headache" album cover, i.e. the AX MURDER SPLIT SKULL AUTOPSY PHOTO. I think around 500 to 1000 of this black plastic sealed "Body Bag" version with special foil embossed label were released while the bulk of the releases were in transparent shrink wrap with an "uncensored" drawing of a split skull. This one has a silver foil label, some have a gold one, I do not know what the difference is, am guessing one is US distrubtion, the other European. I have seen an opened version once and the graphic was pretty twisted to see as a photograph. I can't remember what the songs on it are, but if you're a fan, you probably already know. Since I haven't opened or remember the playlist, I am not sure if this is an LP or EP. In any case, it's a 33 rpm.
Like an "unpeeled banana" Velvet Underground album, most of the "value" of this item is in the fact that it is UNOPENED and was CENSORED. I have seen it for sale in punk record stores in San Francisco for as much as $350.00. An opened version of this album sold last spring on ebay for $149.00 and apparently there are extras, posters etc in the bag though I don't know for sure since it's UNOPENED! These guys were also pals and musical contemporaries of the Butthole Surfers from Austin, Texas. I recommend keeping this album unopened and getting the musical fix by buying an opened version. That's just my take as a fanatical collector of rare weird stuff. BUT... the picture is very graphic and can't be seen unless you decide to slice open the black vinyl pouch.
I got the album from Santiago Durango himself back in the '80's. I've had the unopened record a long time and have stored it upright, indoors with moderate tempatures etc. Because it's still sealed I have no idea what the inside is like, should be perfect...
