BENNY GOODMAN 1930's BROADCASTS Rare 1950's Jazz Music Radio Show on Two AFRTS 16" Radio Transcription Discs
“Benny” Goodman was an American jazz and swing musician, clarinetist and bandleader; widely known as the "King of Swing". In the mid-1930s, Benny Goodman led one of the most popular musical groups in America. These 1930's radio broadcasts feature the Goodman Band at the peak of it's popularity and abilities. It also showcased some of the greatest musicians in the history of Jazz music, like Harry James, Lionel Hampton, Gene Krupa and Teddy Wilson.
This one hour 1950'S Armed Forces radio show tells the complete story of this amazing Jazz Band through rare 1930's radio airchecks and broadcasts. The show is hosted and narrated by noted Jazz Historian and Record Collector Andy Mansfield and was part of the AFRTS radio series called "America's Popular Music". This is show number 238 in the series.
These two 16" Radio Transcriptions are in Excellent condition with no visible scuffs or scratches. These discs sound great and are still very glossy. They are not warped or chipped and play fine. Each Radio Transcription disc has two 30 minute radio shows, so you get a total of 2 hours of great entertainment from the Golden Age of Radio. The pictures supplied are of the labels of discs being offered.
