Description
Highly sought after 'Beatles 'Please Please Me' LP,from 1963.
It's the short-run second Parlophone 'Yellow and Black' label pressing, from 1963, without the 'Sold in the UK............' text on the label, as would appear on all subseqjuent releases.
It's also housed in the equally hard to get 'Ernest J Day' sleeve, who printed a small number to help 'Garrod & Lothouse',
The thicker much bolder text used for the word 'mono', and the unique Angus McBean photo credit on the front sleeve photo are among the very noticeable differences!.
The matrix numbers are XEX 421-1N for Side One, XEX 422-1N for Side 2- as both finish -1 this is among the first pressings.
It could be extremely rare Decca pressing, as it ticks all the boxes but as they use the same label, just a different press, would need an expert to confirm.
CONDITION: front sleeve – for it’s age – it’s in EX- condition, it’s bright and colourful, no ringwear, rips or tears, there is a thumb print size stain mark on the top left hand edge – above then ‘T’ of the Beatles but hardly noticeable.
Rear has ring-wear , and is ‘off white’ and slight staining on the corners - a couple of inches of sellotape holds the bottom edge together – but the other borders are still firm, no pen marks, rips or tears so ooverall VG
The Parlophone on the Labels still have a seriously bright shine to them, and the are some minor spindle -wear but EX-
The vinyl side 1 has a slight scratch on the first track, one that runs through tracks two and three, then the vinyl is VG+ all the way.
Side 2 – VG+ throughout.
