  Voila! A real, a true, an original "under-5000-numbered" British MONO White Album. Such a copy most probably didn't cross your way yet, at least not on eBay. These prestigious "issues" usually scrape a living by sitting in an air-conditioned glass cabinett of a reputable collector. Now it is your chance to join this noble circle! (And in case it's gonna be your first pearl with a need for an own insurance: We're sure there's cabinets available on eBay, too.)

Yes, this is a true first press, available in U.K. stores for barely a week. In an era, when pressings were shifted from Parlophone to Apple labels, initial mistakes were hardly avoidable. So it was here, when whoever was in charge "forgot" to mention ?An E.M.I. Recording? on any of the White Album's labels, thus constituting a clear copyrights violation. Only five days later, on November 27, 1968, officials corrected that error (most probably unaware of the fact to -by strictly adhering to the rules- just having created a highly sought-after collector's item, namely a "true first press variation").

Record up for auction here is housed within a top opener gatefold cover, with its original black die cut inner sleeves with one cut-out hole only! The KT Tax Stamp sits on Side C. Comes with all the details aforementioned to distinct a first press from other releases, and it certainly has all four glossy John Kelly color portraits as well as the While Hamilton collage poster with the lyrics on its back.

There's also double albums that carry one disc with ?An E.M.I. Recording? credit, the other one without. However, since it is impossible to prove that these two discs initially belonged to each other, collectors, at least in our experience, rather avoid such "variations".
Other identifiers: First label variation have ?33 1/3? text at the top line of the left side, as well ?Sold In U.K. subject to resale price conditions, see price lists? on top of label. Publishing year printed with small copyright symbol (p). The labels are quite dark although the actual shade of green varies greatly among copies.

An astonishing low #4,606! And although the sequential numbering of the covers remains somewhat of a mystery, it appears that the first 300,000 numbers were generally held for mono covers, whereas numbers 300.001 thru 399,999 were quite obviously being used for mono and stereo. That means that they have both "PMC 7067/8 mono" and "PCS 7067/8 stereo" printed on its spine as well as the word "stereo" on the cover reverse side's upper right corner, no matter whether the discs held within were either mono or stereo.
400,001 to 600,000 were held for stereo. First 400,000 numbers were not used exclusively for mono covers. Numbers from ZERO to 50,000, and some numbers in the 200,000 to 300,000 range were (also) used for stereo covers paired with export albums having Parlophone labels. Some later mono covers were printed with numbers over 600,000, perhaps as high as 630,000.

This copy comes in a "true" mono cover, hence without mentioning of the word "stereo" at the upper right corner of the cover's reverse side (as usual for numbers with 5 digits or less as described above). We point this out to avoid a wave of questions in our eBay messages inbox.

To make it bulletproof: You're bidding on a 100% early first true press MONO copy of the Fab's White Album.

Last but not least, every collector should bear in mind that numbering in U.K. and Germany were completely independent on each other, regarding both its sequencing and numbers themselves, hence both countries started with "000001". Moreover, the Germans' pressings were a) the worlwide first, starting to release roughly a month prior to the album's publication in the United Kingdom, and b) came as stereo mixes only. Provided the fact that the worldwide first press, Germany's stereo version, was sold at least 500,000 copies within the first months...
... you have a guess regarding the "real" number of any White Album published outside Germany. That is why we consider one of our German copies -#000364 for instance- a real "under 1,000" album. A thing discussed time and again with other collectors - but that's the good thing with "collecting the Fabs", it's more or less a "science", right?

1st Class Packaging

We are Collectors, hence every record is stored (and will be sent) in a sophisticated way. Many experienced collectors were thrilled by our unique, bullet-proof "packing technicque". Original cover, inner sleeve(s), prospective inserts, and/or whatever may come across, are stored separately. The vinyl sits in a neutral antistatic, padded inner sleeve, which is housed in a stable, neutral cardboard cover. Package is protected by one (or more) transparent plastic sleeves. Finally, all items are being wrapped with thick bubble foil and go to a professional record mailer.

For packaging, we use brand-new material & items only. Whatever eBay MIGHT display: INSURED, SIGNED-IN, TRACKED SHIPPING IS FREE. ANY DESTINATION ON THIS PLANET.

Audible checks are performed with a Pro-Ject Audio system connected to a DENON PMA 520-AE amplifier, with a Sennheiser 350 headset.   Remarks   As for the Cover and related issues, please refer to pictures, extensively provided right after. Cover has ring wear, scuffed corners, and something yellows. BUT it is still shiny, and folds aren't ripped, or something.
Labels are in a top condition, and as for the stunning vinyl, it's almost unbelievable in view of this lady's age! Spine is partially hard to read.

Regarding audio: Damn clear, straight MONO sound, incredibly full and authentic. Not to mention all the arrangements that are very different from what we know from the stereo pressing!
