Description

BEATLES UK - PLEASE PLEASE ME- BLACK AND GOLD LABEL – ORIGINAL MONO.

1963 PMC 1202 – BLACK AND GOLD PARLOPHONE LABELS.

A UK LP in 100% original condition, featuring the very first issue of the very first  Beatles Album.   This album features the original  early  Parlophone  record label, ‘the old style’,  the  launch of the very first Beatles Album in early 1963 featured this label for a short while before the label design was changed to the more familiar Black and Yellow  Parlophone label.   The label also has the misprinted  ‘ Dick James’ music publisher, this   error was soon changed to the correct,  ‘Northern songs’ publishing credits.

The labels are in unusually excellent condition, as they have virtually NO spindle wear at all.

CONDITION:

MAIN SLEEVE:  the laminated front is in very good condition,  the unlaminated rear is in good++ condition.   As this is   a very early sleeve it is made of thick heavy card, also   the photographs name is printed to the very far right bottom hand corner on the front of the sleeve.   The rear of the sleeve has tri-flipbacks,  the sleeve is made by E J Day.  The spine is in  good  condition, the text on the spine reads “ Please Please Me  -  T** Beat*** ” due to some laminate loss, the rest of the text on the spine is clear.      This is a very good original sleeve,  it  looks very presentable for its age.  There is NO Biro writing on the sleeve.   There is some  wear to the top flipback and there is   a small section of sellotape.  There is some wear to the  bottom flipback  and  a common problem  with these  sleeves  is that the bottom flipback has come away near to the opening edge of the sleeve.

INNER SLEEVE: is in excellent  condition and is the original Polylined Emitex sleeve,  it is very white and clean,  there is No Biro pen, stains or tears etc.

VINYL:  side One is in very good++ condition,  side Two is in very good+ condition, it is made of the period, thick, heavy vinyl.   The vinyl is very clean, dark and shiny, the matrix  nos. are:   XEX  421 – 1N   and  XEX 422 – 1N,  the Mother/Stampers are  ‘ 1    O ’  and   ‘ 1    M ’, the record has an unusual  sharp outer edge.   The ‘run off’ sections of the vinyl are very clean and free from scratches.

AUDIO:  is very good, it plays really well, there is some crackle/static to be heard, but played loud it has a  brilliant powerful, period Mono sound.   The record lays flat  on the turntable and does not stick  or jump.

THE LABELS: are in near excellent condition,  the record appears to have seen  very little play, as there is virtually NO  wear around the  Two spindle holes either side,  amazing.     There is  a  ‘  Z  T ’  embossed onto the label on side  Two,   there is No Biro pen, sticker residue on the labels.

***************

Unfortunately as you will see from my feedback,   I have received One negative feedback recently.   This is due to the fact that I followed Ebay policy and reported  an Ebay member for non payment and in turn I have received this feedback !, while this Ebay member carries on trading unaffected !,    I am disgusted that Ebay has let this happen !

To fairly grade the condition of the record, I am using the official grading system from the Record Collector Magazine.

Grading System

The seven standard condition categories and a description of what each one means are listed below:

MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.

EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

POOR: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.

+  or  – :  indicates a grading in between categories.
