BEATLES UK – With the Beatles LP, with ‘Decca’ ridged labels.

PMC 1206 – original  black and yellow Parlophone labels.

As the newly phrased ‘Beatlemania’ swept throughout the UK and into Europe in late 1963, there was such a high demand for the groups latest LP, ‘With the Beatles’, EMI could not keep up with the demand, so ‘Decca’ were called in to help with manufacturing this record.

A UK album in original condition featuring:

1. these ‘Decca’ records have a distinctive ‘ridge’ each side on the record label,

2. the vinyl itself is a somewhat lighter grade than the regular EMI records,

3. the sleeve to the rear features the incorrect spelling of ‘Gotta’ for the track ‘You really got a hold on me’, but on the record label on side two this track is spelt ‘Got a’ hold on me !,

4. as this is a ‘Decca’ record and not an EMI record the engraved mother/stampers on the record differ from an EMI pressing.

5. unlike EMI records, these ‘Decca’ records do not have tax coding letters embossed around the spindle hole.

CONDITION:

THE MAIN SLEEVE: is in very good++ condition, the front is laminated. The spine is in very good++ condition and has remained an excellent fresh white in colour and all the text can be read on the spine. The rear of the sleeve has remained very clean and white in colour for its age. The rear of the sleeve has the period tri flipback design. There are NO splits, tears, pen writing or stickers or sticker residue on the sleeve.

THE INNER SLEEVE: is in excellent+ condition and is the original use ‘Emitex’ sleeve. An excellent and well preserved sleeve. The sleeve has NO pen writing, tears, splits, stains, stickers or sticker residue.

THE VINYL: is in near excellent condition, it is made from the period, thick, heavy vinyl. The vinyl has remained very dark and glossy. 

The matrix  nos. are:  XEX  447 7N  and  XEX  448 7N,

The mother / stampers are: as this is a record made by ‘Decca’ and NOT EMI, the mother / stampers are different, side one just has the numbers ‘3  9’ at the 9 o’clock position. Side two just has the number ‘4’ at the 9 o’clock position. There are NO ‘stampers’ engraved onto the run off as there would have been with an EMI record.

THE AUDIO: side one plays excellent, side two plays near excellent as I did hear at the end (last minute approx.) of track two some light ‘ticks’ and into track three, some light ‘ticks’ for approx one minute of play. The record lays flat on the turntable.

THE LABELS:  side one is in near excellent condition, side two is in excellent condition. As this is a Decca record there are NO letters embossed around the spindle holes. The labels are free from any pen writing, stickers or sticker residue.

PACKING  -  ALL RECORDS ARE POSTED WITH MULTI LAYERED CARD STIFFENERS FOR PROTECTION.BEFORE POSTING, THE RECORD IS REMOVED FROM THE RECORDS ORIGINAL INNER AND OUTER SLEEVES, THE RECORD IS THEN PUT INTO A SECOND PAPER INNER SLEEVE TO MINIMISE ANY DAMAGE THAT MAY OCCUR WHILE IN TRANSIT. THE RECORD / SLEEVES ARE THEN PUT INTO A NEW PLASTIC SLEEVE FOR FURTHER PROTECTION.
