Description

BEATLES UK – REVOLVER Stereo RARE  E J Day sleeve.

1966 PCS 7009 – Original Black and Yellow Parlophone Labels.

A  UK  Stereo copy  in 100% original condition, with a very hard to find Stereo sleeve made by E J Day.

The first Beatle album sleeves of ‘Please Please Me’ were nearly all printed by  the company ‘E J Day’.    But by late  1963 the printers ‘Garrod and Lofthouse’ began to  print most of the Beatles album sleeves.  By mid 1964 there were virtually  no sleeves  being printed by E  J Day.  This is apparently due to  the fact that in Mid 1964 the printing company ‘E J Day’   were going through new management.  The company emerged into 1966 and began  once more to print Beatle album sleeves.  When Stereo copies of this album do appear the sleeve will be printed by ‘Garrard and Lofthouse’.  So while it is not uncommon to find  a Mono Revolver E J Day sleeve,  it is extremely RARE to find  a Stereo flipback E J Day Revolver sleeve.

The record label on side two has the spelling of ‘Doctor Robert’,  but on the sleeve this track is spelt as  ‘ Dr  Robert’  apparently at  the insistence of John Lennon.   The spelling on the sleeve was never corrected to the  ‘Doctor’  spelling !

CONDITION:

THE MAIN SLEEVE: is in very good  condition, the front of the sleeve is  laminated.  The  rear features the original tri-flipback design.  The spine is in very good  condition and all the text is readable.    There  are  NO splits, tears,   pen writing,  stickers or  sticker residue on the sleeve.   There is some evidence of  a slight  water  mark that appears  10mm into  the right lower side of the sleeve.   A very good solid complete example  of such   a RARE sleeve.

THE INNER SLEEVE:  is in very good+  condition  and is the original correct period EMI  ‘Patents applied for’  sleeve.   There are NO  tears, stains,  splits,  stickers or  sticker residue.   The albums title has been written  on discreetly on each side of the sleeve in blue pen. Also  the word   ‘Stereo’   has been written discreetly to the top right front side of the sleeve in blue pen.

THE VINYL: side one is in  excellent  condition, side two is in near excellent  condition.  It is made of the period thick, heavy vinyl. The vinyl  is very clean, dark and glossy.

The matrix are:   YEX  605 - 1  and   YEX 606 – 1,

The Mother/Stampers are:   ‘  2     O  A ’    and    ‘  2     A  A   ’,

THE AUDIO:  is excellent,  it plays with excellent quiet ‘ run-ins’, one of the nicest playing copies I have heard.   The record plays well without the needle sticking or jumping.

THE LABELS:  are in excellent   condition,   as mentioned side two has the spelling of  ‘ Doctor ’ Robert.  The letters ‘ K T ’ are embossed around the spindle hole on side one.  The labels are free from any pen writing,  sticker residue or stickers.
