This is the American issue by Capitol Records which contains the British pressings of the same 12 original albums, with the American pressing of Rarities. The latter differed from the British counterpart in that it included the previously released English-language versions of “I Want to Hold Your Hand” and She Loves You”, rather than the German-language version found on the British Rarities compilation. The American edition was a limited edition of only 3,000 numbered copies.

* Beatles mix alert –Both the “I Want to Hold Your Hand” (duophonic remix of UK mono single - with both channels placed little more center) and “She Loves You” (duophonic remix of UK mono single - with most sounds center and left) tracks are in mock stereo and these mix variants are only found on this promotional LP.

In 1978, EMI and some of its worldwide subsidiaries, including Capitol Records, issued “The Beatles Collection” box set. While Capitol imported the Parlophone and Apple catalog albums placed in the box set, it chose to manufacture the bonus disc, assigning it promotional number SPRO-8969. This version of the Rarities album is similar to the EMI edition;however, Capitol replaced the German language version of “I Want to Hold Your Hand” and “SheLoves You” found on the British standard version. In all likelihood, the switch was made because Capitol wanted the collection to include the standard English versions of these huge hits, which were not on any of the British albums included in the box set.

The Capitol Rarities disc was manufactured with purple labels featuring the classic Capitol dome logo. It was packaged in a dark blue paper sleeve. The front side has “The Beatles “Rarities” centered and the Capitol logo and SPRO-8969 in the lower right corner. The back side is solid blue.

Note: I just noticed for the "Rarities" LP there is one song I want to call out. "Slow Down" toward the end of the song has a slight drop in the volume (roughly for about a second) then returns to normal. There appears to be a tiny spot that pervious owner tried to unsuccessfully clean. At no point does the song skip. I just wanted to call this out since otherwise the rest of the tracks are in NM condition. As a result, I thought it only fair to reduce the Buy it not price by 150.00 and the Starting Bid by 100.00. 

Sleeves – NM for all standard UK Albums and VG++ for the“Rarities” jacket (quality of a record sleeve).
