Description
RARE original 1st press MONO Canadian issue from 1964.
Always check the 6 o' clock position of the Rainbow label to see if it's an original or a reissue.
The first label variation on which Beatles records were pressed was the classic black label with a rainbow color band. This variation of the Black Rainbow label was first issued in the early sixties (T-6018) and has a glossy label. The perimeter print shows the word CANADA without brackets. This label variation was kept until 1966 where Capitol Records of Canada was re-incorporated to Capitol Records (Canada). Labels then had the CANADA in brackets, making it easier to differentiate early sixties pressings from late sixties repressings. This label was used for Beatles records until 1968 where they switched to their own label called Apple Records."
CAPITOL OF CANADA'S SECOND BEATLES ALBUM TWIST AND SHOUT WAS ALSO ISSUED AS PART OF THE LABEL'S "6000 SERIES", WHICH CONCENTRATED ON POP ALBUMS, AND WAS ASSIGNED NUMBER T-6054. THE LP WAS ONLY ISSUED IN MONO AND FEATURES TWELVE OF THE FOURTEEN SONGS FROM THE FIRST BRITISH LP RELEASE "PLEASE PLEASE ME", PLUS THE A SIDES OF THE TWO PREVIOUSLY RELEASED SINGLES "FROM ME TO YOU" AND "SHE LOVES YOU".
THE ALBUM'S FRONT COVER IS FANTASTIC -FEATURING THE SAME BLACK & WHITE PHOTO THAT WAS USED FOR THE GROUP'S "TWIST AND SHOT" EP ON PARLOPHONE. THE BACK COVER HAS EXTENSIVE LINER NOTES ON THE GROUP AND ITS MEMBERS, THE OFTEN-USED DEZO HOFFMANN PORTRAIT THAT APPEARS ON THE PICTURE SLEEVE "I WANT TO HOLD YOUR HAND", A MINIATURE PICTURE OF THE FIRST CANADIAN RELEASE "BEATLEMANIA!" LP, AND THE TRACK LISTING.
Sleeve: VG Clear tape affixed to top and bottom of cover but hardly noticeable. Appears to be three staple marks at the very top of the sleeve. Staining on the back cover. Otherwise pretty solid and presentable.
Vinyl: Visually G+ Well loved and played. Numerous hairlines throughout and some deep lighter scratches. Plays: VG Sonically sounds good. Some surface noise throughout and pops in between tracks and in quieter parts but does not overpower music. No skips or loops on my turntable. Labels are nice and clean!
Overall a pretty cool original scarcely seen 57 year old Beatle classic!
