Description

Here is your opportunity to own a true, first day UK press, near- time capsule copy of The Beatles Revolver, in glorious MONO, straight from a well-kept private collection.

It is highly likely you won't see many other first-run UK copies of Revolver as clean and impeccable as this one. It is every bit as I describe below, and more – and just as nice as anything you will see offered by high profile sellers like Perry Cox and Parlogram. How do I know this? Because I bought my stuff from them, and have given all of it the white-glove treatment ever since.

And with a no-quibble return policy, you can’t go wrong. All you’ll be out is the shipping fees if you want to return it. But – hear me now, believe me later – once you have this piece in your possession, you won’t want to return it.

See my other Beatles albums currently for sale here on ebay.

I still have an inventory of fantastically clean Beatles items to list. More first press, near-mint UK Parlophones, unplayed singles, some other sealed LPs, some sealed solo stuff, much more and … what are you looking for? Send me a message to find out how I might help you round out your Beatles record collection.

THE BEATLES – Revolver1966 U.K. Parlophone LP PMC 7009
First day Mono pressing with XEX-606-1 Side 2 matrix number
Contains withdrawn version ("Remix 11") of "Tomorrow Never Knows"
"Dr. Robert" on both the record and the sleeve

Up for your consideration is an immaculate UK copy of The Beatles Revolver  – in glorious MONO, 52 years after it left the factory.
We all know the narrative. In August 1966, on the first day of manufacturing for the Revolver LP, John Lennon had misgivings about the mix they had selected for "Tomorrow Never Knows." He phoned up George Martin, who in turn called the factory. The presses were halted, but not before a limited number of these records, with the rejected mix for "Tomorrow Never Knows," had already been pressed and packaged – creating an instant, highly sought-after Beatles collectors item.
*** Once upon a time, I worked in a museum. So I know a lot about collections stewardship and preservation. All rare Beatles records I will be listing on ebay over the next few weeks come from my personal, meticulously tended private collection maintained in quiet, light-controlled, climate controlled archival-type setting in a clean, pet-free, smoke-free home. ***

CONDITION REPORT
Photography caveat: For the photo session, I chose to leave the cover in its protective mylar sleeve. So in the photos you will see "anomalies" that are merely caused by reflection. Rest assured the cover is exactly as described below.

This outstanding 1966 first mono pressing is on the black and yellow Parlophone label: PMC 7009. Both labels carry the "Sold in the U.K. ..." text and "Gramophone Co." rims. This earliest of copies bears the "Dr. Robert" spelling on the Side 2 label. The "KT" tax/price code is visible in the center of the Side 1 label. The disc is housed in a front-laminated, tri-flipback 'Ernest J. Day' printed mono cover. The set is complete with its original, 'Patents Applied For' plain white inner sleeve.
DISCMatrix numbers XEX 605-1 / XEX 606-1
Stamper numbers 6/AR and 1/GP
Weight 150 grams
Labels: EX+
An immaculate pair with just a handful a light spindle trails to each center hole.
Visual: EX+This extremely impressive copy has been carefully and correctly stored away for all of its years, and displays very little signs of visual wear. Both surfaces are pristine and 'as new' upon careful inspection of both playing surfaces in strong daylight, with their deep-gloss shines fully intact with no surface marks or wear to any area. Close examination beneath a powerful halogen desk lamp reveals a sparkling rainbow gloss shine and a small number of insignificant wispy paper hairlines (mostly on Side 2), but no other blemishes at all. Happily both sides of this fine disc lay 100% flat on the turntable with no signs of dishing or warping. It is such a joy to see an older record so rare, preserved so well.
Audio: NEAR MINTVery rarely will you find a copy of this record that plays back as sweetly as this one. This remarkable sounding disc has received only perhaps a handful of careful plays on high-end equipment. The sound is warm and clear throughout with a deep rich bass and clean and clear highs. A careful playcheck at volume had me marvelling at its sonics ... and regretting I have to let this piece leave my collection. I cannot detect any evidence or traces of groove wear or play wear of any sort, on or between any one of these outstanding tracks. Both run-ins and all bands play without a single click, tick, pop or other such interference or distraction. If you're looking for a keeper copy of this record, look no further.

COVER : NEAR MINTThis rare example is in spectacular condition and has been carefully stored in clean, non-smoking environments for the last 52 years. The front panel is pristine white with no hint of yellowing and the high-gloss laminate shines 'as new' with just two small thumbnails and a single, moderate spine bend. All four corners are perfectly clean and sharp with no bumps or dings. Amazingly, both opening edges appear untouched. The rear panel is perfectly clean and black where it should be with no soiling and not a trace of any ring wear, rubbing or any other wear. All the distinctive wide flipbacks are super clean (so rare to see them unsoiled) and fully intact with no wear. Both seams are completely smooth and unstressed, and the spine is still fully laminated and worded. You won't be disappointed.
INNER SLEEVE : EXClean and flat, with just the unavoidable light disc impression and some areas of toning but no tears, splits or writing.

And it really goes without saying, but just to clarify:
  • No dirt
  • No fingerprints or oils
  • No mold
  • No funky smells
  • No writing
  • No warping
  • No ring wear
  • No edge wear
  • No seam splits
  • No foxing or spots on the cover
  • No dings
  • Not a reissue
  • Not a counterfeit

So there you have it. An original UK Beatles Revolver LP worthy of any serious Beatles collection.
Bid with confidence. And please send questions if you have them. I can also provide more detailed photographs to those who make serious enquiries.
