VERY RARE PRESSING with MISTAKENLY USED ALTERNATE MIX of TOMORROW NEVER KNOWS
This is the very rare 1st UK MONO pressing of this album on the black and yellow Parlophone label cat# PMC 7009 with "The Gramophone Co. Ltd." at 9 0'clock on label rim, "Sold in U.K." on label and "K T" tax code embossing on center side 2 label. This is the pressing that has the mistakenly used alternate mix of 'Tomorrow Never Knows' - a mistake that led to EMI hastily recompiling the album with the 'correct' mix and rushing through another pressing. Only the very first UK pressings with the Matrix codes Side 1 XEX 605-2/Side 2 XEX 606-1 have this alternate mix - the only Beatles album ever to have had a mistakenly used track as far as we know.
The original UK mono Garrod & Lofthouse flipback cover is in very good condition with no tears,splits or markings other than slight wear to the edges and a small green ink stain on the "ol" of Revolver on the rear cover.
The vinyl looks and sounds great with a minimum of surface noise and only a few light surface marks on an otherwise remarkably shiny and well cared for playing surface - like most original UK Mono Beatles pressings it sounds full and crisp with an excellent upfront mono sound and barely registers the few light marks, particularly on the alternate mix of Tomorrow Never Knows.
The labels are in excellent condition - the printing is clean and shiny on a deep black label that has no unwanted scribblings or markings. Other than a slight wear around the center hole on side 1 and very light markings around the raised center on side 2 the labels are near perfect. The UK 60s tax code "K T" is stamped on the raised center on Side 1, and Side 2 has the later incorrectly labelled "Doctor Robert" as "Dr. Robert".
The vinyl is in an original "Use Emitex" paper sleeve that is in very good condition with a slight tear on the lowest underside seam but no visible marks or stains. The slight darkening of the paper sleeve shows how this LP is nearly 40 years old and yet in great condition and obviously well cared for.
