After 20 years of collecting, the time has come for me to sell my Beatles collection and let other collectors appreciate some of the records and memorabilia I've accumilated over the years. This auction is for a modern reproduction of the most collectible album cover in the world. This is an extremely high quality reproduction of a 1st state Stereo Butcher Cover!
The story of the Butcher Cover is infamous. In 1966 Robert Whittaker was a photographer called to conduct a photo session for Capitol's next LP, Yesterday and Today'. Soon tiring of doing 'another Beatle thing' Robert decided to do something more unique, pullin out some butcher smocks, baby dolls and slabs of meat. The photos taken during this part of the session were never meant to be taken serious. Unfortunately, nobody told Capitol and they soon picked one of the images taken during that session for the front of their latest release. Reaction was, as expected, extremely negative, and the album was almost immediately recalled. Some copies were destroyed, some copies were said to have been dumped in a landfill somewhere and the rest had a new, alternative slick pasted over the top of the original Butcher cover.
Only a handful of copies escaped destruction or pasting, and on offer here is a very, very high quality reproduction of this 'state' of Butcher. No disc is included. This is just for the sleeve.

The sleeve is immaculate with vivid, accurate colours on the front slick. This was bought as MINT and has remained in a record case in the original plastic protective sleeve it came to me in. The white paper is still pure white both front and back with no hint that it's ever been handled or had a record in it. All seams are tight and whole as you'd expect. Top cover! Due to problems in the past where numerous untracked records I've sent out have 'mysteriously disappeared', I only send records out fully tracked and only to your verified PayPal postal address to comply with eBay and PayPal seller protection policy. All LPs will be mailed out in a strong, corrugated cardboard LP mailing box with the LP outside the sleeve. Extra sheets of corrugated cardboard will be used where applicable and FRAGILE tape used
