In the early or mid 1970's (consensus has yet to be reached among fans), E.M.I. (New Zealand) issued numerous Beatles and ex-Beatles LP titles with orange Apple labels identical to those used several years earlier on George Harrison's All Things Must Pass album (proved by the presence of the 'His Master's Voice (N.Z.)' - pre-cursor to EMI (NZ) - manufacture credit at the top of the label).
Various theories abound which seek to explain, a) why the orange Apple labels were pressed into service in the first place; and, b) why said labels were used on the majority of, but not every, Beatles/ex-Beatles LP. The reasoning is not important; it happened.
Nobody can give a definitive answer regarding the numbers in which each - or any - of the orange Apple LP's were produced. However, based on their appearance on auction sites, it is generally agreed that production numbers were quite low in comparison to other NZ 'Beatles' label styles. In any event, the orange Apple label 'collection' is a pretty cool vinyl Beatles subset and is unique (title-wise) to New Zealand.
CONDITION
LABELS: EX - please take the time to look at the images provided; do not confuse the faults of the 'response' of my elderly camera, or the jpg compression artefacts, with the 'in the flesh' labels themselves. The labels are in excellent to near-mint condition.
VINYL: VG+ to EX-minus - flat and clean, the vinyl is marred by an occasional surface mark but no gouges or significant scratching.
SLEEVE: VG+ to EX-minus - no writing, no tears, no seam-splits (or 'threatening' splits); no dirt. A few creases. Spine text is clear and fully legible.
