EMI offset ‘ FACTORY SAMPLE ‘ label  Side 1

Note; Many collectors of Beatles original UK Vinyl seem to hold great store by  original First pressing discs  that carry an EMI ‘ FACTORY SAMPLE, NOT FOR SALE ‘ label I have never really subscribed to this even though I have ended up with several within my collection. Basically the ‘ Factory Sample labeled Discs are simply discs that have been taken from The production  pressing runs  to check on the production quality and then archived. It is very probable that these production control discs were taken from each pressing batch which were run at about 300 copies per batch before the Buckingham Stamper codes etc were altered. So based on this I estimate that approximately 1 in 300 discs carry the EMI Factory Sample Label which does make it a little rarer and will attract a slight premium But nothing to get over excited about. Obviously should a  1 / G,   1  /G,   or  I / G ,  1 /R, Factory Sample Discs become available Then I consider that with these Mother  / Stamper Codes it will carry quite a high premium.  These Factory Sample copies were later  given away to EMI executives or important record buyers  and some were sold to EMI employees at a discount,  then over the years these  have gradually found  their way onto the open market through this route.

CONDITION;
Please Note; In my opinion the grading of vinyl records and sleeves is at best subjective                      So with this in mind I will always err on the side of caution with my                      Grading’s. Which are based on the ‘Record Collector‘ UK Grading’s                        There seems to be far too many  vinyl records being offered for sale that are                     Not realistcally graded.

DISC;  -  LABELS ,                EXCELLENT   /  EXCELLENT
Both Labels are in superb condition, all the silver and yellow lettering is in pristine   condition , they both show just a very few feint spindle trails, there is very little sign of  spindle hole wear, Both labels show NO writing, stickers ( save for the EMI Label to side 1.)

DISC;  VISUAL,                    VERY GOOD -  /  VERY GOOD
Under my unforgiving double halogen desk lamp it  shows both disc surfaces to have have retained  their beautiful deep black gloss sheen. The only negatives are some very  feint wispy surface hairlines  more so on side 1, all of  which are NON – FEELABLE and do not impact on  the SUPER AUDIO.in any way.  The vinyl on both sides show NO feelable stylus marks . There is also a very small light surface rub to the side 1 vinyl.
.                           DISC;   AUDIO,                      EXCELLENT     /  EXCELLEN
During one very careful play of both sides of this  disc using a lightweight dedicated mono cartridge  the Audio was excellent. It was deep, rich and punchy , I could detect just the very occasional light dust pop  here and there and some very light background static ostensibly on the run in’s and out’s   but  nothing to detract from the overall excellent audio. At the end of track 5 on side 2  I could detect 3 / 4 dust pops close together There was of course NO  Skips, Jumps or stalls..

INNER;                                     EXCELLENT -
This inner is the original plain paper sleeve with the correct ‘ Patents Applied For ‘ Text to the Front bottom left. It shows NO seam splits, writing or stickers and overall is nice and clean,  It shows just some inevitable creases and a little light age toning.

SLEEVE;          Front Panel;         EXCELLENT -
The outer sleeve is the  rarer original E.J. DAY  front laminated tri  - flipback sleeve  with an unlaminated back panel. The front still retains a lovely high gloss sheen, it shows just a few very small  thumbnails Ostensibly to the spine edge when angled into a strong light
. The top and bottom seams are smooth and free from any splitting or heavy wear, the spine is very firm  with all the spine text in as new condition, crisp and clear. All four corners show some very light wear   to the tips but no heavy rubbing or splitting.
The open edge is still sharp both front and back

Flipbacks;            EXCELLENT
The Tri  Fold  Flipbacks are in very nice and firm glossy condition  with no more than a very few  feint  thumbnails, the corners are still in very nice condition

Back Panel;          EXCELLENT     The back panel has survived in excellent condition, it is still very clean and shows  NO writing, stickers or sticker removal marks whatsoever. It shows a partial  light disc  Impression and just a couple of very light creases.

SLEEVE OVERALL GRADING IS A FIRM,  EXCELLENT -

In my opinion this is very nice overall example of this  Beatles Album with excellent  audio, and represents an ideal future investment for a Beatles Record Collector.
