Description

For sale is a rare original 1966 UK mono 1st pressing of The Beatles' seminal 1966 album "Revolver" with very rare SERIF FONT labels and "Dr. Robert" misprint on both labels and cover.
The very first copies of revolver were released with a mix of "Tomorrow Never Knows" that the Beatles were not happy with. The first copies of the better, satisfactory mix (on this pressing) were released with the wrong SERIF font on the labels with "Dr. Robert" on the labels, a mistake which was quickly rectified. These labels are very special and every other version has non-SERIF labels - the serif version is very difficult to find. The side one labels also have the rarer desirable raised 'K T' tax code.

Detailed grading as follows.

Sleeve - VG

The superb glossy flipback sleeve would be graded EXCELLENT to EXCELLENT+ if it weren't for a small 1cm missing portion on the back top flipback flap (clearly pictured). This is a very neat defect. Apart from this, there is only minimal storage wear to edges and corners, and this remains a very neat and decent sleeve, now well over half a century old!

There are absolutely no mentionable scratches or worrying marks to both sides, just a number of light wispy hairlines visible under a light source. There is very, very faint minor spindling to each of the classic yellow, silver and black parlophohe labels which is only visible under very close inspection angled at a light source. The record grades a confident EX.

The original EMI 'patents pending' inner sleeve is EX+, fully intact (no splits, tears etc.) with only mild wrinkling.

Overall this is a great copy of a rare Beatles find, fit for the collector!
