  • ***** PLEASE READ THE NOTE AT VERY BOTTOM OF THIS LISTING PAGE FOR IMPORTANT HELPFUL INFO REGARDING SOUTH AFRICAN 7" PICTURE COVERS
=============================================================================Purchased a rather large record collection previously owned by a long time record industry person who had travelled the world and also worked as a radio station dj and lived in South Africa & UK for quite a number of years. There are many boxes of records here and everything is mixed up regarding alphabetic order, year and country of issue, music genre. So the listings will not be genre or year specific. Most of these records have been in a climate-controlled storage facility and never been played. Hope you find something you like, and thanks for looking :))
MOST IMPORTANT IS THAT YOU ARE 100% SATISFIED WITH YOUR PURCHASE OR YOUR MONEY WILL BE FULLY REFUNDED. JUST WANTING TO HELP COLLECTOR'S ADD TO YOUR COLLECTIONS AND TO FIND A HAPPY HOME FOR THESE RECORDS (SOME RECORD COLLECTOR BOOKS AND MUSIC ARTIST BOOKS TOO)======================================================SHIPPING

Grading Scale

SealedJacket sealed in shrink wrap; disc sold ungraded or "as is". Notes will be made if wrap is partially torn, but record will still not be removable from sleeve or jacket.NM or MAppears unplayed and will bear no marks, sleeve scuffs, or scratches. EX used if vinyl is between NM and VG++
VG++May have one or two visible imperfections (i.e. sleeve scuffs, faint scratches, or other superficial marks) that will not affect play.VG+A few visible imperfections. These may include sleeve scuffs, light scratches, or other superficial marks.VGSame imperfections found on VG+ records but in greater numbers. Records graded VG and above will typically not have any scratches that are deep enough to be felt with a fingertip touch.VG-A number of visible imperfections; the presence of a considerable number of light scratches will force a VG- grade, as will the presence of significant isolated defects such as scratches deep enough to be felt with a fingertip touch.GPervasive imperfections of varying degrees including both light scratches and scratches deep enough to be felt with a fingertip touch. G+ and G- are used to indicate stronger and weaker copies within this range.

All records are visually graded using a bright lamp but we will play-grade for you upon request. Sometimes a scratch or scuff may look bad but especially on older thicker vinyl, it doesn't sound as bad as it looks, so those situations will be tested on the turntable and play-graded.

PLEASE NOTE !!-I have had quite a lot of questions in the previous auction regarding South African picture sleeve covers, here is some hopefully helpful info on South African picture sleeve covers.....
Because South Africa is a small country, many 7" releases in 60's-80's were released without picture covers due to cost vs. small buying population. When picture covers were printed, they were printed in limited amounts. During 60'S & 70'S, most picture covers were printed on thin (cheap?) paper, resulting in easier damage, creasing, folding, tearing. Occassionally, the paper used was slightly thicker, almost thin card stock.
Some of these picture sleeves were printed as a single sheet, with artwork on front and a blank, white reverse side
Other picture sleeves were printed as a double sheet, with a vertical fold in the middle, between artwork that, when folded, became the front and back of the picture cover, the inside when folded, always had a blank white surface with no printed artwork.
In both cases, whether single sheet, or double-picture folded sheet, the record+cover requires to be housed in an outer plastic bag, else the vinyl record would fall to the floor....in other words, the double-picture folded sheet, has 3 open sides and a folded spine, and cannot hold a record, much like the fold-out cvr ona 12" album.
Sometimes, the artwork for front and back pictures, were identical mirror images of each other (as in these current auction records>>> Nancy Sinatra, Bobby Gentry, Earl Grant, Bobby Vinton, Barbara Streisand)
Other times, the 2 pictures on the printed side of the sheet, were either different (see Brian Poole & Tremeloes in this auction, or the identical picture was used but the A & B sides song titles were printed, rendering the front and back different (see Marianne Faithfull pic cvr, in this auction)
Finally, the 7" sleeves are usually either very flimsy paper stock or very thin card stock thus resulting in many annoying, devalueing and unfortunate but unavoidable creases. :((
