This is a very interesting find. It's an Israeli first press of The Beatles debut on black and yellow Parlophone label, which is rare by itself, but this copy has a grooved label (regular first press don't have that groove), the very same groove Decca pressing plants made for their records. It seems a few copies were commissioned to be pressed in England for the Israeli market to meet the demand and were done by the Decca pressing plant, which ironically were Parlophone greatest rivals. How many copies like this are in existence? Your guess is as good as mine, but I have only seen one copy beside this one in all my years of collecting...
This is a single sleeve, front laminated and flip back cover. There is no country of pressing written anywhere. This was done back then because the Israeli pressing companies feared of Arab boycott.
Although this copy is in pretty poor condition, the sheer rarity scale of it and the story behind is enough to reward serious interest in Beatles collectors.
Cover: Good (opening crease is in rough condition: rip, wear and 3 punch holes)
Vinyl: Good (warp in vinyl which affect the first song in each side. It plays through without repeating or clicks, but there's a swooshing sound. Some other marks as well, but plays through them fine)
Labels: side 1 label has sale tax imprints on them, as it was customary in Israel in those days. Side 2 is clean.)
