Please Please Me LP by the Beatles MONO PMC 1202
This MONO Vinyl LP is on the FIRST ISSUE ***GOLD AND BLACK*** label. It has 'The Parlophone Co. Ltd' label rim text, and 'Made in Gt. Britain' label text. The first two tracks on Side 1 have the 'Dick James Music' credit. The Vinyl Disc comes in the polythene lined inner, with the 'Important > Take Good Care of Your Microgroove Records' text, and is housed in the SUPERB 1st Issue Laminated Ernest J. Day Three Flip back Picture Sleeve.
SLEEVE
The Ernest J. Day sleeve has very little creasing to thefront laminate. There is VERY SLIGHT scuffing at the corners, and a few light nicks at the top edge. The Angus Mc Bean photograph of the Fab Four has lovely deep colours. The spine is perfect, with the words 'Please Please Me - The Beatles' crystal clear. On the reverse, all three flipbacks are in perfect condition, and there is only minimal discolouration to the white areas. There are NO tears, and NO handwriting. The sleeve grades as ***EXCELLENT+++*** .
INNER
This is the polythene lined inner, with the 'Important > Take Good Care...' text. It is in ***EXCELLENT*** condition. There is just a bit of creasing at the corners, and mild discolouration , mainly at the record entry point. There is one slight tear at one of the record holes, and a couple of little ones at the top. There is NO handwriting.
LABELS
These are the FIRST ISSUE ***GOLD AND BLACK*** labels,with 'The Parlophone Co. Ltd' rim text, and the 'Dick James Music' credit for the first two tracks on Side 1.They are in ***EXCELLENT/NEAR MINT*** condition!!! Both look SUPERB, with just a bit of light scuffing towards the centre hole on Side 1, and very light centre hole scuffing on each side. There is NO spindle wear.

Matrix Numbers and Stamper Codes
Side 1
Matrix XEX 421 - 1N Stampers '1'at 9 o'clock and 'P' at 3 o'clock.
Side 2
Matrix XEX 422 - 1N Stampers '1' at 9 o'clock and 'L' at 3 o'clock.
When viewed under VERY STRONG sunlight, there are a few extremely light surface scratches on each side, a couple quite long. However, I must stress that these are so light that they haveVIRTUALLY NO EFFECT on playback. There is the usual light paper scuffing. I would grade the vinyl as ***EXCELLENT*** .
AUDIO
The Mono sound is SUPERB!! Loud and clear!! The sound quality on all tracks is TRULY AWESOME!! This is incredible for a 43 year old record!! On Side 1, the only flaw is a bit of very soft background crackle in the quiet bits on 'Ask Me Why'. The'silent' bands between the tracks are lovely and quiet, apart from a bit of soft crackle after 'Ask Me Why' and 'Please PLease Me'. This side grades as ***EXCELLENT+++*** . Side 2 is ***EXCELLENT/NEAR MINT*** . Again, all tracks play with superb sound quality. The only 'flaw' is that some of the silent bands have a couple of very soft clicks and a bit of very soft crackle.
Thisis truly a fine example of the Beatles very first album. It is on the much sought after ***GOLD AND BLACK*** label. Thisterrific album is being offered with alow starting price and NO RESERVE!!!
I am privileged in having very sensitive hi-fi equipment, which shows up any slight flaw, so I feel that I am able to grade records accurately.
