This vinyl is in only “Fair” condition according to the RRPG gradings. It is heavily marked on both sides, and some of the marks on Side 1 look deliberate! Side 2 isn’t quite as bad, but is still a long way from what you would want. At first glance you may be unsure whether or not it would play. However, I have played it on a budget Bush turntable and it plays with a constant heavy crackle.

 

The labels are legible and do not have any writing, stickers, or tape on them. However, they are badly faded and not very clear - see pics.

 

The sleeve is a good solid VG. It is the correct sleeve for a gold label PPM, with the Angus McBean credit starting under the final letter “s” of the word “songs”. Unfortunately, there is a little piece of damage to the sleeve just at this point so the word "McBean" is not visible. On the rear of the sleeve, at the top,  a previous owner, Elaine Hewitt, has added her name in light ink. Other than that, it is, however, very clean and solid, and looks great from the front!

Both "imperfections" can be clearly seen in the pics provided.

It is the second pressing of the mono version, with the publishing credits quoting “Northern Songs” in the appropriate places.

 

This is not a collectors’ piece; I can not imagine the vinyl being much of an upgrade of anything else. However, the sleeve is not bad at all, and it is a rare opportunity to acquire a gold label PPM at a decent price.
