The earliest Australia pressings of Please Please Me are identified by the 'gold' label style. Only mono records with gold labels were released in Australia (i.e. no Australia STEREO pressing of PPM with gold labels has surfaced to the time of writing).
Two versions of gold label exist. The first is identified by the placement of the manufacture credit underneath "THE BEATLES", and follows the arc of the rim text (only about 500 records with this label were pressed). The second version of the gold-label places the manufacture credit directly underneath a solid horizontal line, and is split between the spindle-hole. The record offered in this listing is the second version of the gold label.
This early Australian edition was not a local recut but was pressed from parts imported from the UK; the 421-1N / 422-1N matrices are identical to UK pressings from the same era. EMI (Australia) did not adopt the stamper matrix practice of the UK which means that matrix information of Australia pressings is restricted to 'mother' information.
Due to a smaller consumer market, Australia Beatles vinyl was pressed in significantly lower numbers than the UK counterpart, which makes Australia gold label editions thinner on the ground; it is less common still for a copy of the play-quality of this one to come-up for auction.

Both sides play through without jumping or sticking
(light tone-arm setting)
Listening experience is excellent
occasional (very) low-level crackle restricted to 'dead wax' between some tracks
VINYL - VISUAL
This record presents visually as VG+ to EX- depending on one's interpretation of grades.
Light handling artefacts and mild non-play-affecting surface marks can be seen on both sides.
The vinyl should scrub-up a treat if subjected to careful cleaning.
Platter is FLAT (no warping or dishing)

The mono-catalogue-only sleeve (itself quite difficult to find) is in poor condition relative to the vinyl record. It was tempting to substitute this 'mono' sleeve with a better one which has both mono and stereo catalogue numbers (and few bidders would be any the wiser) but that's not how I operate as a seller. for all it's visual and physical shortcomings, the supplied sleeve is the original which came with this record.
