You'll never find an original UK 1967 mono Magical Mystery Tour 2-EP set in UNPLAYED MINT condition (and if you did, it'd cost a fortune). Here's the next best thing: a brand-new EP set from a just-unsealed 2012 "Deluxe Collector's Edition" box set. All the components are perfect: 2 gleaming, glossy EPs, an absolutely sharp cover with vivid graphics, and pristine mint booklet inside.
The magical music has been expertly remastered to mono, which is really the only way to hear this epochal soundtrack. Even savvy collectors may not realize that from the earliest days at EMI, producer George Martin (sometimes with input from the Fab Four) mastered all Beatles recordings to mono. Then he would delegate the stereo mastering to Geoff Emerick and other Parlophone minions.
