The Beatles - Love Me Do / P.S. I Love You. 45-R 4949
The Beatles 1962 1st UK pressing FACTORY SAMPLE DEMO of 'Love Me Do / P.S. I Love You' 7" single. Released on the 5th October 1962, this also comes complete with the very rare original 'URGENT SPECIAL RUSH COPY TOP POP!' demo sleeve. These initial early 1st pressings would have been given out to reviewers and radio stations prior to the actual release date.
The vinyl features the 'Recording First Published 1962' text and both labels omit the 'Made in GT Britain' text which appears on later copies. In addition the catalogue number of this single is '45-R 4949'. The '45' part of the prefix was there to distinguish it from the '78' versions of vinyl produced. Once EMI dropped 78's in March 1963, singles after this date did not require the '45' prefix. The 'ZT' tax code is visible on the side 1 label dating the production of this single to between - 10th April 1962 and 26th November 1962.
The Matrix numbers are:
Side 1. 7XCE 17144-1N (indicating Ringo on drums and no tambourine version). ZT 1L
Side 2. 7XCE-17145-1N ZT 1L
The vinyl is in VERY GOOD+ condition.
Both labels are in EXCELLENT condition but on side 2 a name has been written neatly.
The original 'URGENT SPECIAL RUSH COPY TOP POP!' demo sleeve is in EXCELLENT condition.
