Description
DESCRIPTION:
Rare authentic Version 2 stereo copy of "Introducing The Beatles" with Version 1 labels erroneously applied. This was a factory error that occurred with a very few copies of this LP pressed by Monarch Records during the transition from Version 1 to Version 2. The record plays in TRUE STEREO and contains the songs "Ask Me Why" and "Please, Please Me", but has the earlier labels that read "Love Me Do" and "P.S. I Love You."
When we consulted noted Beatles expert Perry Cox about this LP he advised us:
"Your (LP) is a factory error that is actually pretty rare. Although I've had them like that before, I can only think of a few ever."
By the time Vee Jay Records was issuing the 2nd version of this LP with the two replacement tracks, the original oval logo was being phased out and replaced by the "brackets" logo. Some stereo Version 2 copies were erroneously issued with oval logo labels, but these were the smaller labels meant for 45s. That means that the LP being offered here is the only case in which a stereo Version 2 LP appears with full sized oval logo labels, and there are very few surviving examples. This is a RARE chance to own a RARE variation of a RARE record!
COVER:
VG+ with light wear, some flaking at corners, one corner bump and name written on back in ink, with original $4.98 price on back in pencil. No splits, tears, stains or major problems of any kind. A tough LP to find without splits--please see photos of all three edges.
This is an authentic and correct cover for the enclosed disc, with the "column back" listing the songs "Ask Me Why" and "Please, Please Me". It passes all tests for authenticity, including sharp print showing George's shadow, the correct 1/4" width for top and bottom glue flaps, and no missing ink from the letters H and E in the word "Honey" on back.
DISC:
VG with numerous light marks, but plenty of original gloss. Plays very well with only minor crackles and no repeating pops or skips. Otherwise great sound with clear true stereo separation--very listenable!
This is an authentic Version 2 stereo disc which plays the songs "Ask Me Why" and "Please, Please Me". It passes all test for authenticity, including the machine-stamped Monarch Records symbol, and the correct 7/8" width trail-off area.
