The Beatles, Get Back.
Photographs by Ethan A. Russell, Text by Jonathan Cott and David Dalton.Original A4 size thick glossy unpaginated softcover book which was issued as part of the Let It Be box set.
Published in 1969 by Apple, London, and printed by Garrod and Lofthouse International Limited.
A very clean surviving issue, even more so for one which has been separated from the box, and would make a very satisfactory upgrade for an extant issue in poor condition. Even as a stand-alone Beatles' collectable, this is a really nicely produced book, printed to a high standard and with loads of unique colour and b/w photos of the recording sessions, famed rooftop concert etc.
Outer wraps are in very good order. Colouration is deep black to all panels, with no fading or discolouration. Spine especially looks good as new still, with no creasing of any kind. Edges and tips have been treated kindly and show just the merest hints of wear and whitening, very minimal. Book still sits very flat and tight, with just an absolute modicum of furling to tips and right edge of front wrap curling upwards just a fraction. The wraps have no marks or stains, and display just a few wispy hairline impression marks. None of these break the surface or are visible in normal usage. The only real imperfections to the wraps are those from manufacture, which include a small air pocket to the laminate at front panel near head of spine, and a couple of minor horizontal creases running through the spine.
Internally book is bright, clean, and free of marks or inscriptions. The opening black free end paper has some linear white marks to far left hand side, near spine, which appear to be the result of leeched glue residue from manufacture. This is not overly detracting. This end paper also has some minor handling creasing to the right hand edge.
Book is perfect bound (pages glued at spine area), and has not suffered from brittling or loose pages, which affects so many of these.
Internally the only real signs of use are a few minor half moon handling creases to right hand edges of some of the pages. None of this is marked, and there are no heavy creases, dog ears etc.
Page edges are bright and clean still and not age tanned or foxed. Clearly well stored for the last forty years.
In summary a very clean and bright issue, and in far better condition than most that surface.
