Background to this rarity:

In Italy, 'Parlophon' (the Italian company name for Parlophone) used a red & silver label for its 1st pressings of Please Please Me, With the Beatles, Hard Day's Night, Beatles for Sale, Beatles in Italy and Help. These were released in mono only. In 1965, the red & silver label was replaced by a black & silver label.

In 1965, the above six red & silver mono only LP's were released in stereo on the black & silver label. Italian 1st pressing mono and stereo versions of Rubber Soul, Revolver, Collection of Oldies and Sergeant Pepper were released on these black & silver labels between 1965 and 1967.

In early 1969, the record label finally switched to "Parlophone" and came to resemble more closely the labels used by Parlophone in other countries i.e. one and two EMI boxed labels.
