Up for auction is the HIGHEST QUALITY BUTCHER COVER 2ND STATE JAPANESE PRESSINGS in existence. YES...I SAID SECOND STATE!
This sealed album has EVERY single detail down to perfection!!! There are TWO SLICKS on this album jacket, both perfect printings in perfect alignment to the original design in every way. You are able to clearly see Ringo's V-Neck THROUGH the top slick. The back RIAA number is 5. You could, as a result, peel the Trunk Slick off of the Butcher slick beneath it and have a peeled reproduction THIRD STATE BUTCHER COVER! It's not just the pasted over slick and the textured paper underneath that make this unique. Even the folded cardboard jacket is NEAR PERFECT!
This is one of the best I have EVER come across. No detail was left unchecked. Again, this is the LA pressing with the number 5 next to the RIAA logo. The shrink is VERY tight and looks outstanding! This album also comes with what looks like an golden inner sleeve inside. But it is very difficult to tell because it is tightly SEALED. I can't guarantee any of the contents inside the sealed jacket!
The corners are near perfect with virtually no bumps or dings. The shrink wrap is very clean and tight all the way around. There are no stains or wear on the cover whatsoever. Under really good light, it appears that the shrink has some residue of some kind. But this is getting VERY picky. This album reminds me of what the butcher cover would and should look like when it was BRAND NEW back in 1966. EXTREMELY bright white with beautiful color. EVERYTHING about this copy is factory fresh.
I purchased this in early 1993 at a Beatles convention. And have NEVER come across another SECOND STATE since. EXTREMELY RARE! I have spoken with numerous record store owners over the past several years and most experts don't event know that a SECOND STATE japanese pressing exists!
You will not find another like this one, especially when you consider the rarity and condition. This is GUARANTEED to be the best example that you will EVER find of this pressing. The early japanese pressings are legendary for their authenticity and commitment to detail.
Look carefully at the photos and you will see Ringo's Black V-neck peeking through the slick. You will not find another example like this floating around the internet. TRUST ME...THIS IS NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND! I've been looking for another one for the last 20 years and have had NO luck!
I have been collecting Beatles albums for over 30 years and have amassed quite a collection. This is one of my favorite albums in the entire collection! A GREAT CONVERSATION PIECE! I have fooled numerous friends and Beatle collectors with this album. It's NEAR PERFECT! A record store owner offered me $500 for this a couple of years ago and i declined. But money isn't has plentiful as it used to be in those days. So it's time to let it go.
