Description

The BEATLES 45. 1967 Rarity PROMO USA Capitol Yellow labels for the PENNY LANE and STRAWBERRY FIELDS FOREVER promo single, released in advance of the regular single in February 1967. Promo number P5810. Capitol’s First Beatles Promo Single. This became special because the “Trumpet Ending” of this 3:00 version of Penny Lane was redone a few weeks later with a shorter ending minus the trumpet coda for the regular stock swirl 45, 5810. This Promo thus created a rare alternate version!! It was never released on any regular album either!!! Only available worldwide in USA and Canada on Promo labels!! It had been 6 months since the Beatles last single release and they were putting these 2 songs out early rather than saving them for the Sgt Peppers album which was not yet ready!! Maybe that rush led to this mistake release and quick change! This was the first of 4 Beatles Capitol Promo Yellow label singles that are available. This is the rarest of the 4, and most expensive due to the unique rarity version!! This 1967 Penny Lane Promo 45 Vinyl and label Condition is Goldmine EX. My highest grade. Fully shiny, near unplayed, few marks, very clean, no writing, and plays thru great. Both PENNY LANE and STRAWBERRY FIELDS FOREVER labels are great with sharp appearance and value. And the vinyl is still EX (Excellent). My highest grade!! I see these on eBay about twice a year. This comes in Plain White sleeve, as well as with EX Capitol Picture Sleeve, wonderful front and back, which I think is a later repro sleeve, not 1967, with inch wide inner glue flaps, not the standard Capitol 1/2 inch flaps!! You decide!! I think the EX repro may have more value in the future than the original!!! But it’s the “trumpet” recording we are all after. The sleeve can be replaced!! This listed item is a SUPER Collectable, because of the rare trumpet ending, not normally on any other worldwide single or worldwide Magical Mystery Tour album. Beware! There are remake/reissue copies of this original 1967 Promo. The obvious remakes are noticable, most often by a “thinner P” in the P5810 issue number printing!! Also a couple other obvious differences! Explore on 45cat discography site (my favorite). And the experts say there is a stamped asterisk star in the inner matrix area. A six-pointed stamped asterisk on each side!! This record has them but they are hard to photograph!! See photo 6 for an example!! In August another one sold for over $1200 (see photos). It was posted thru Perry Cox, a Beatles authority, and it appears identical to the item I am posting! All comments and information are welcome!! Photos 9-11 are other examples I have seen recently! Both sides are MONO as are all the Capitol Beatles 45s until Get Back in 1969!! Request both my lists if interested, Top 100 Hard to Find Beatles Songs on 45 Singles Worldwide, or Beatles 150 Songs in Stereo on 45 Singles Worldwide, no charge. See photos 1-4, actual record and sleeve for sale!! Comes in Common white sleeve and Capitol Picture Sleeve in photos 3-4. ANY ADDED RESEARCH INFO WELCOME!! From 50+ year Beatles collector. Shipped with USPS Media Mail and Global Shipping Program. All purchases ship for $5 total, so Browse for others. Price reduces weekly till sold!!! Best. Beatle Lew.
