Description
You are bidding for one genuine 12” stereo
BBC TRANSCRIPTION SERVICE LP
containing two BBC IN PERSON programmes:
9. VAL DOONICAN
and
10. VERA LYNN
(CN 1154/S)
These two 30 minute programmes date from the very late 1960’s.
VAL DOONICAN is accompanied by the JIMMY CURRIE QUINTET
and THE KINGFISHERS, and sings:
GENTLE ON MY MIND; O’RAFFERT’S PIG; MYSTERIOUS PEOPLE;
MARVELLOUS TOY; LITTLE GREEN APPLES; ELISIVE BUTTERFLY;
THE SPECIAL YEARS; WHAT WOULD I BE and TRY TO REMEMBER.
VAL recounts some amusing anecdotes, as he introduces
the songs he has chosen. VAL also sings the theme song “SLICK CHICK”.
VERA LYNN is accompanied by ALYN AINSWORTH
AND HIS ORCHESTRA and sings:
A KIND OF A HUSH; WONDERFUL WORLD; SUNRISE, SUNSET;
SOMETHING IS HAPPENING; FOOL ON THE HILL;
BECAUSE YOUR MINE and YOURS
VERA introduces the songs.
Original stained BBC continuity sheets, together with a photocopy
of the BBC catalogue page is included.
The record is in its original BBC yellow and red sleeve.
The record plays well. Both sides have light paper rub marks
and light scratches. The VAL DOONIGAN side has five heavy rub marks
in a 15 mm x 5 mm area that look terrible but produce only faint clicks.
There is also a mark that produces about five clicks.
The VERA LYNN side has a 3 mm x 12 mm rub mark
that produces a couple of clicks.
