Description

Barclay James Harvest - Barclay James Harvest

Harvest SHVL 770 1970 UK

Condition Vinyl EX++/Sleeve EX-

This is the Very Rare 1ST Issue original UK pressing on the Green Harvest label in Textured `Garrod & Lofthouse` Gatefold sleeve - matrix/run out groove SHVL 770 A-3G/SHVL 770 B-2G mother stampers 1A/1P

Vinyl - Nice THICK VINYL (as you would expect on the very first issues!) Plays FAB (essential on such delicate music that BJH specialised in), Looks MINT under normal light - under bright spotlight scrutiny I can see some light paper scuffs from being taken out of inner sleeve! Still a Nice Copy - Comes with original `Harvest` advertising inner!!

Labels - UNMARKED & CLEAN, only under bright light can I see a some Spindle Marks, but not many, this LP hasn't been over played AT ALL!! - This was the first `thick vinyl` Issue!! with the `NO EMI` boxed logo on the label on Side 2 - Side 1 interestingly has the `EMI boxed` logo - this would probably show this to be one of the last of the initial issues without the the logo and with the boxed logo labels introducing the 2nd (if you can understand what I mean?) - somebody at the factory must have picked one of each `naughty, naughty` - contains `Gramophone co` rim text both sides!!

Sleeve - Nice Condition 1ST Issue Textured `G & L` Gatefold sleeve - Very Prone to spine wear, ring wear & edge wear, Glad to say this copy has been quite well looked, Spine still readable (purple writing on black who came up with that wonderful idea? I`ll bet the shop keepers loved this one!) but does have some wear, some edge wear but not too bad, again mild ring wear, Opening still nice and SHARP (showing the record hasn't been in & out of the sleeve too many times!), Nice & clean inside gatefold !! - NO tears/NO graffiti/NO sticky label problems etc

Rarity - YES! this was the FIRST ISSUE on nice hefty vinyl with textured sleeve!

Musically - worth buying just for the live version of `Get `em Out by Friday` much better than the `Foxtrot` one and for Gabriel's `dry` introductions with of course the unaccompanied bass solo from Michael Rutherford`

Tracklisting:

Just a note on Grading - I always play grade my records right through and unless stated they do not jump, skip or stick when played!!! I always view the vinyl under a very bright halogen spotlight!!! Why? because although I have excellent vision when viewed under a normal light or even worse a fluorescent tube (most shops have these) the vinyl will not show up how marked it truly is - some view records in daylight but this has to be done in direct sunlight to see the hidden marks - I do this so that I can give the full picture and should please even the most `critical` of collectors. Also I photograph the WHOLE of the cover (I don't cut off the corners or edge) so you can see as close as possible what you will receive!!

Postage/packing: I use new professional record mailers with several cardboard stiffeners to protect the cover - the record will be placed in a NEW clean inner sleeve, removed from the record cover (saves ringwear/pushing through seams) and together with original old inner placed in a NEW pvc outer sleeve - I also include recorded delivery as standard in the overall cost in the UK (70p) it covers up to £30 in case of loss - it will be optional for international packages (as it is more expensive) but still advisable! - please note complete postage charges (below) before bidding!

Payment - I am quite patient but if I have waited a couple of weeks for money and sent reminders unless there is a good reason I will claim back my fees and give a nonpaying bidder strike - I don't charge for Paypal!

Returns - If you feel there are any problems with an item you have purchased please feel free to contact me - I will be glad to discuss the matter as I want people to be happy with their purchase!!!
